I think it's more due to people underestimating that Floyd is crossover star, certainly in the black community. Over here people who have never shown an interest in boxing had facebook statuses about Mayweather, particularly a lot of girls. Now, if that's the black community in Britain, than it must at least be the same in the US.

Let's face it there was a lot of people predicting a poor PPV turnout for that fight based on their dislike for Mayweather. I said before that fight that it was all on him either way. If he did badly, the numbers were on him not Marquez, but the same has to go if it did well.
I get the same thing feeling... I know alot of my friends ( who aren't particulaly boxing fans) are interested in Mayweather fights, for whatever reason I dont know. I think outside of hardcore Hatton fans Mayweather has got a very big fan base in the UK... But then people I know are probably more interested than Haye than Floyd and Pac put together .
