THE BATTLE OF THE BUMS - That lose everytime they step up against at least equal competition. I'd hope for a 12 round DRAW.

I see Mayorga winning,Vargas has never impressed me much and I hate his fake bad boy attitude. The only thing I can say for him is that he has a lot of heart. As for the fight,I think Mayorga would hand out an ass whooping,Vargas just stands there, his defence is not that great and does he ever throw a combo?? I'm not a big fan of either but I do find Mayorga more entertaining than Vargas.

They ain't bums. Vargas defeated Yory Boy Campas (when he wasn't too bad), Raul Marquez and Ike Quartey. The latter being a damn good fighter. Mayorga KO'd both Andrew "six Heads" Lewis and Vernon Forrest. He also beat Cory Spinks and got robbed. As well as beating Spink's rival, Michelle Picarillo for the WBC belt. I'm beginning to think the only thing you make sense on is James Toney at HW.
"You knocked him down...now how bout you try knockin me down ?"

Hulk, Face it. They are both bums when it comes to winning big fights. True enough.. they both have a few (and again, I emphasize "few") good wins, but what happens when they face someone of at least equal or better caliber? Answer: They can't wn the big fights.

    DeLaHoya KO Mayorga
    Trinidad KO Mayorga

    Winky Beat Vargas
Shane Mosley Beat Vargas by KO
    Trindad KO Vargas
    DeLaHoya KO Vargas

Especially Trinidad and DeLaHoya can both tell you about these big mouths.

So they are both bums because Delahoya and Trinidad beat them?(and Shane in Vargas' case)

hmm... then I guess James Leija is also a bum because he lost to both of them by TKO too right And Gatti is a bum for knocking out Leija which makes Mayweather a bum for beating Gatti right?

Thomas Hearns isn't a bum for losing his two hugest shining moments is he? And against those fighters of the era who are HOF bound its not a shame to lose to them, and you shouldn't be called a bum because of it.

The key to great fights is match making… Ward - Gatti is a great example. 2 fighters on the same level. Mayorga is not as technical and skilled a Vargas, but he brings awkwardness, and determination, Both guys like to bring it.. it’s a good match-up !

excellent point........neither one of those guys are bums for reasons that starr listed. cc for you someday (when i can do so)

    also.........
i feel that both of those guys have plenty left in the tank
vargas has as much if not more than mosely (i thought he was starting to take the fight till his eve swelled up to the size of a grapefruit)
and mayorga got stopped by an oscar who looked REAL good considering the layoff

i would like to see the winner of mosely/vargas fight mayorga and maybe the winner of that fight mayweather/delahoya

    my prediction:

    mayweather/vargas 07/11/07

    mayweather tko 11
    (vargas's corner stops the fight)

i guess im getting ahead of myself though

Plain and simple.. Mayorga and Vargas are C-Class Fighters! Put them now along the lines with Arturo Gatti.

I think Vargas would win late on in a barn-burner.
