I can understand where hattonthehammer is coming from re: fighting while going backwards. If you're a defensive fighter and a counter puncher you're naturally going to be more effective by baiting your opponent to throw more punches (which is why lots of counterpunchers leave their lead hand low, that invites more right crosses). The more your opponent chases you and the more punches they throw then the more opportunity you will have to counter.

Is that roughly what you were trying to say?

Bullshit it still doesn't naturally allow you to land more punches there is still execution involved. It still shows questionable knowledge on how to score fights if you discount landed punches on that basis. And btw there is a difference between potshotting and running.

The aggressor more often than not will have his chin down, hands up and will walk down his opponent. The counter puncher however due to his movement around the ring is able to throw the odd curve ball something the front footed guy simply cant do.

Dirrell was able to land big on froch because carl basically had to spend the entire night chasing him down and in doing so andre was allowed to jump in with his lead every so often and follow it up with a right hand

And the (one) way to beat a counterpuncher is to force him to lead off.

Which means if you are naturally the aggressor holding off from throwing.
