Also, remember, it takes 2 to tango. Everyone says it's up to Floyd whether the fight happens or not, when in actuality, it's up to both camps. It wasn't even a week ago that Roach was yammering on about a 60/40 split (for Pac) at 145lb limit. You can bet your ass that Floyd won't take a deal like that, and why should he? If Pacquiao is the bigger draw, it's not by that much. Inflated ego or not, Floyd wants the match to happen, but 'Money' obviously won't take it if he feels he's getting ripped off.. and it's not just about money, any less that a 50/50 split could hurt his legacy as well.
So he swore at the producers down the phone because they wanted to talk about a possible massive fight coming up and he decided to stay at home? He was always happy to do it with other opponents on the radar, what is the difference here? I thought he would take every chance to gain attention for the fight like he normally does.
That's because in his previous fights (since becoming a boxing superstar), none have been this close to 50/50 in negotiations. The only recent one in which he got the smaller end was De La Hoya/Mayweather in which he bagged about 10mil and Oscar, about 25m. At the time Oscar was obviously the bigger draw (and + promotional duties) got the Mexican American the much larger purse.
Although, to some degree, you may be correct in that his ego is too big to share the spotlight with someone else. It's not an uncommon occurrence at this level of the game
