The only recent one in which he got the smaller end was De La Hoya/Mayweather in which he bagged about 10mil and Oscar, about 25m. At the time Oscar was obviously the bigger draw (and + promotional duties) got the Mexican American the much larger purse.
Although, to some degree, you may be correct in that his ego is too big to share the spotlight with someone else. It's not an uncommon occurrence at this level of the game
