Of course the fight would've been different.

    Ricky was much fresher then

    Billy Graham was also younger

Joe Cortez wouldn't have been ref and so wouldn't have been biased to begin with and wouldn't have been even more biased after the national anthem got booed

Mayweather back then was also a lot smaller

It would have been a very different fight. Would Ricky have won? I dunno. Floyd is a phenominal athlete and pound for pound king.

You can say Tszyu only had done 3 rounds in so many years but lets face it. Sharmba Mitchel was the top of the division then and Kostya rinsed him in 3. That shows the shape and condition Tszyu was in. He was far from passed it. He was looking to beat Rick easily and then move on to bigger things, retiring was not in his thoughts.

To be honest I don't think Ricky has anything to be ashamed of for his performance in vegas.

I think Ricks performance against Floyd will be put into context after Floyd fights Pac.

Even with Mickey Vann refing Mayweather still beats him easily. In terms of boxing ability Hatton and Mayweather don't belong in the same postcode, never mind the same ring.

Pbf Still Would Have Won, He Will Beat Hitman Any Day. Reason For Dat Is Ricky Hatton Charges You Majority Of Da Time. Thats Perfect For Floyd Due To The Fact That He Likes Out Boxing, And Making You Chase Him...

Dnt Get Me Wrong I Like Hatton He Wus A Beast, And Prob Still Is Only Having His 2 Losses To The 2 Best Fighters Of All Time pbf and pacman.

I was actually shocked when Tszyu quit. I thought he was going to edge it out if he took the last round!

It may have been a tougher fight for Floyd, but I think he would have outclassed Hatton just the same.

As time goes by, peoples opinion on what actually happened changes. Tszyu was just a sguilty of using illegal tactics. He was holding a lot, he was hitting below the belt. It was that sort of fight. Tsyzu wasn't shot either. He might not have been prime, but he destroyed Sharmba Mitchell 7 months earlier.

As for Mayweather v Hatton, in a small ring, with a hometown referee...i don't know. It would have been interesting. For Ricky to win, he'd have to have gotten away with an awful lot. The difference in class between Floyd and Ricky is huge, but Ricky still managed to take rounds off Floyd in a fight where he was effectively fighting the referee aswell.

I'm not suggessting Hatton would win - who know, maybe he'd rush in more and get caught earlier than he did in Vegas.

I do feel the fight would be much more uncomfortable for Floyd. I'd imagine he'd win, just not as comfortably as he did in Vegas.

    Mayweather still wins.

Ricks tactics were based on closing the distance quickly and nullifying Tszyus right hand. If anything, Floyd is better at going backwards and I'm certain he'd of picked Ricky off at will. That said, Rick had a world class chin that night, so I'd give it to Mayweather on points, rather than the stoppage he later achieved over Rick in Vegas.

I'll never question Hattons desire and determination but I think the timeline changes would have seen the same result inevitably, just cannot change the styles, techniques and over all execution gaps between Floyd and Hatton.

Mayweather vs Hatton and that referee in UK?

    I'd give Hatton the edge.

That is a very good question.Ricky was a beast then and punch's just didnt seem to faze him.Joe cortez on that night didnt let ricky get on the inside at all in that fight and to me it all played into pbf hands.

I think, ricky back then in manchester would have give pbf a run for his money.I'm not sure he would have beaten him,Because i feel Pbf,is the best about.
