Default Eubank-Benn clash of the titans

A great essential watch for a boxing fan

It truly shows the pure hatred these 2 had for eachother and what lengths either man went to get the victory.

Some amazing insights into the fights:

Benn finding out 3hours before the weigh in he was 6 AND A HALF POUNDS OVER
Benns team intentionally admiting to cutting off eubanks music half way through
Eubank admitting that benn uppercut hurt him bad
Eubank claimed he suffered a half inch cut in the tongue from the punch which cause him to swallow a hell of a lot of blood but didnt reveal during the fight because he knew it would be stopped
Eubank genuinely believed he deserved to draw the second fight??

God,these were the days of big british fights between two fighters that genuinly hated each other.I made a thread not soo long ago about who'd win between Benn vs Calzaghe at supermiddle weight.Nigel Benn was my and still is my boxing idol.He was soo genuine and exciting to watch. He always fought open most times and got tagged over and over, but he just kept coming forward.Ben for me was a hard as nails game fighter. All of his opponants said that Benn had raw power.Benn had a heart as big as any heart i've seen in a british ring. His desire was huge too.Benn used to hold the record of the only british undefeated boxer in the british army ranks.I dont know if he still does, but he was the first to retire in the boxing army tournaments undefeated. He was fighting fighters at short notice and alot more heavier than himself in the army tournament but he won them all most of them by KO.

    LOVE YOU NIGEL BENN!!!!!

Knew all those facts Richard Steele also described it as the most brutal fight he ever saw, and he saw Tyson v Ruddock and JCC v Taylor.

a great period in history for sure. i think their fights made their careers too be honest.watched a program a bit back where they had a reunion, there was a hug or too, and too see the mutual respect for one another was something else. great fighters, great men

Steele did a great job in that fight, the stoppage was perfect and you could see in his face he felt bad for Benn having to stop it.

Eubank took some punishment in that fight, I ain't surprised he was pissing blood for days.

My dad was always a Eubank man so that meant I was. Now that I'm grown up I understand why. Charisma, skills, heart - Eubank practically had it all. He won't go down as anywhere near the best in history but man did he provide some good memories. Along with Benn of course.

I think that is why I prefered Eubank - Benn always carried so much aggresion and Eubank just wound him up and kept calm. I loved the clash of styles and personality.

Sorry but for me JC didn't come anywhere near as close to filling their boots when they left. He achieved more but benn and eubank did much more for british boxing.

Greatest memory as a youngster was going to a family party where the fight was being shown and having only myself, the old man and my uncle supporting eubank

A good 30 or so of my family were well and truly distraught when benn got stopped.

Its amazing when you look back and think about those 2 fights. Remember the 2nd fight where literally the entire country just came to a standstill and people who had never even seen a sporting contest before let alone a boxing fight including pensioners and children turning on itv to watch the fight

Brit ferocity in the ring. Nothing quite like it.
