Default Manny Pacquiao going after 8th world title Vs Foreman??

Not without intent to be one of the many to start a Pacquiao thread but it looks like the fight with Mayweather might not happened at least for now. Seems like they can't agree on a date and that is just bad for boxing... So it looks like Pacquiao vs Foreman and Mayweather vs Mosley(if he beats berto).

Pacquiao vs Foreman May Be Next in March, Says Roach - Boxing News

    By Mark Vester

Trainer Freddie Roach has confirmed BoxingScene.com's big scoop over the weekend; Manny Pacquiao may move up to 154-pounds to target a world title shot against undefeated WBA champion Yuri Foreman. Foreman and Pacquiao are both promoted by Top Rank. Roach, who will be in Amir Khan's corner this Saturday, told British press that Floyd Mayweather Jr. doesn't want to fight Pacquiao in March, and Manny doesn't want to wait until May or June to fight again - likely due to a possible election run as noted earlier by BoxingScene's Ronnie Nathanielsz.

"Mayweather doesn't want to fight in March, so we might fight for the 154 pound title in March and move up for that eighth world title. I'm thinking about that still and it's something that I'm kicking around in my head right now," Roach said.

"Yuri Foreman might be the opponent. It is a possibility, and then Mayweather in September. If they guarantee me that, we'll do that, but I need more of a commitment from Mayweather because he's not negotiating too well. It has to happen, and with the money they are going to make out of it, I feel it will happen. Mayweather can't make that money with anybody else."

Bernard Hopkins, a partner in Golden Boy Promotions [who are backing Mayweather], told BoxingScene.com over the weekend that Pacquiao would likely face Foreman before Mayweather, and Floyd would likely fight Shane Mosley - should he beat Andre Berto in January.

I wish this fight would just happen. I wouldn't mind if Mayweather fights the Mosley-Berto winner and fights Pac late next year, but i read somewhere that he was going to come to the UK to fight someone easier if the fight with Pac didn't happen early next year? They should just get it on

It's already December I don't think that March fight will happen either. I also don't think PAC is completely healed from the Cotto fight. The 8th title is very winnable though considering Yuri is not a big puncher. 8th title a Crazy feat I say go for it!!!

yea he should go for it, against the winner of Williams/Martinez and stop trying to either pick off the weakest fighter with a title (Diaz and now Foreman) or basically take advantage of the other fighter by demanding catchweights (Cotto, up to a certain point DLH)

This would be idiotic. Foreman could beat him or at least be a spoiler and just stick and move all night.

Williams-Martinez is at 160, I think Williams is done at 154 unless its somebody like Manny or Floyd and lets face it neither of those guys is going near that freak especially with a Manny/Floyd fight in the offing.

I don't even care if they each take a tune up as long as the fight is reasonably sure to go ahead after. I don't even care who they'd fight, as long as its not Matthew Hatton. It most likely is just posturing though.

LOL at Hopkins volunteering that it might be Mosley for Floyd. OK.

I'm not going to blame Pac for this. I think Pac would fight anyone in reason at their respective weight. Roach is behind all these shenanigans. He is taking the luster off achievements by way of tactics. Yuri Foreman? Cotto was too big to go up to 147 but an easy title in Yuri Foreman is small enough to go up to junior middleweight for I hope this plan backfires and Foreman beats Pac.

i think pacquiao is taking yuri foreman a little lightly here because foreman has got mad skills, is very fast for a big man and has great movement as well. if pacquiao were to beat him it would be incredible but i don't know if he is going to be able to beat a boxer like foreman who moves like he does, counterpunches, has a very fast jab and naturally outweighs him by a ton. let's not forget yuri is like 5'11", has a longer reach and is young and hungry. i don't think pacquiao is going to be able to outbox him because foreman is a pure boxer and we all know pacquiao has trouble with pure boxers who have good counterpunching skills.

not to mention that pacquiao is probably going to take yuri foreman a little lightly after such a great win over cotto!

Where would it be fought? Manila, Tel Aviv, Dubaie?

i just saw a video of freddie roach talking about mayweather jr. and possible other opponents for pacquiao. he was asked by the interviewer that if the mayweather jr. fight doesn't happen could pacquiao fight yuri foreman next and roach said NO. i think he realizes this might be a bad matchup style-wise for pacquiao and also the fact that pacquiao is running for another run of congress in the philippines.
