Mig, its simple Biomechanics. Move the Head down, you are nearer His glove, plus you stop your Diephram from working by up to 50%. Move the Head back, I dont think so . To the side, off balance. What moves the Body anywhere are Joints and Muscle, its those that move the Head. Its whats in the oral cavety that directs the movement

Dosen't the ear drums also play a big part in balance?
I know a deaf guy and he told me it causes him to have poor balance.

Your inner ear is your primary source of Balance. Your eyesis where the problem is that causes the imbalance.

Hey Scrap! If you could please elaborate how moving your head down (I assume you mean pin chin to clavicle/chest) would relieve your diephram by as much as 50?

    Regards,

U misread the post, he meant that putting your head down IS what causes the 50% restriction.

True that Bomp, talking about the Diaphram. It helps to keep it open to help with eye focus, the eyes work primary of oxygen there main energy source, it helps concentration when working anarobicaly.

Thanks for setting me straight! Read slower I guess

Please forgive my ignorance, and I do not mean to hijack the thread, but what is meant by putting my head down?

Where I am going to with this is the practice of pinning your chin to your chest/clavicle as part of the fundamental form - are you saying that by doing this we are causing a possible 50 % reduction in diaphragm function?

    Thanks!

Bingo, should never leave your chin hanging in the air, then again pinning it to your chest fucks up your mechanics on which scrap is our resident expert. Look at balanced fighters like Floyd/Whitaker and where their heads are. Most elite fighters dont have their chin way down, just tucked in a little.
