Re: Tim Henman to turn to Pro boxing ?
I think that he could go far - he has the sinewy physique of a good welterweight - sort of a bit like Tommy Hearns. In fact, his overhand right, modelled on his serve, could go down in history as one of the most lethal punches of all time.
He would be a good upright boxer, but I think he may be a bit stiff. He is used to playing for points so would be used to the concept of a points win. If the opportunity presents itself, he could unleash a 'volley' of punches and score a TKO.
He is a solid competitor, and there would be no 'love' lost between him and his opponents.
He would never draw a fight, like Toney/Rahman or Taylor/Wright, as he would be quite capable of going into a tie-breaker or continuing until someone was 2 rounds clear in the scoring.
His hero would be John Ruiz, as they have both spent so much time in/on court. Instead of being the 'Quiet Man', Timmy would be the 'Shite Man' of boxing.
I hope I have treated this thread with the respect and seriousness that it so obviously deserves (!)
