Default Antonio Tarver v Jeff Lacey:set for October???

    http://doghouseboxing.com/Chee/Chee_061906.htm

Kevin Iole of the Las Vegas Review Journal is reporting in his latest column that Jeff Lacy vs Antonio Tarver could happen in October. Two weeks ago Tarver was dominated and lost his title to Bernard Hopkins. Lacy had a similar fate dominated by Joe Calzaghe in a super middleweight unification bout back in March of this year.

In regards to fighting Tarver, Lacy had this to say to The Las Vegas Review Journal: "I think it would be a fight people would be interested in and it would be a fight I would like. There are a lot of appealing things about it."

Lacy also commented on Hopkins victory over Tarver: "I questioned whether Bernard at 41 could put on that kind of a performance. I was seriously picking Tarver to win the fight. It's not that I didn't think Bernard had the skills, but I wasn't sure whether a guy who is 41 could do that. But he dotted his i's and crossed his t's and he put out like a young guy. I knew Bernard had great talent, but you wonder about a guy who is 41. But he stuck to the game plan and he fought like a guy a lot younger."

cc Game, i cant see it happening personally, id be suprised if Tarver fought at 175 again, i feel he will try and get a couple of big Heavyweight pay days before he retires, maybe Toney or Rahman, who knows but if this fihgt happens, id fancy Tarver at 175.

CC back brother, and to be honest,I cannot see it happening either but who knows? Lacy may fancy a big return fight, and it would certainly build his confidence!

Certainly would be an interesting fight. Could be a bit of a disaster to whichever fighter lost it though. Would quite like to see it happen. It will also be intrigueing to see how Lacy can recover from that beating he took from Calzaghe. This has hopefully not scarred Lacy too much mentally. Let's wait and see what happens though.

I doubt Lacy would fight Tarver without any tune ups.

I would fancy Tarver in this match.

Especially if Lacy jumps straight into it with no tune-ups (doubtful).

Tarver can box well from the outside, Lacy wouldn't be able to stop him, I don't think. So it's going twelve. And over 12, you have to tip Tarver.

I think Lacy would eat Tarver alive Jeff would be all over him and making it messy on the inside Digging hooks to the body I dont think Tarver is a good enough boxer to keep Lacy off of him...He would knock Tarvers head clean off for Chriss sakes!!!!

This is the perfect fight for the 2 of them BOTH have something to prove and Both got a shutout pitched against them from two of the best boxers in the world, this would be awsome!!!!

I'm a Jeff Lacy supporter. I was close to tears during the Calzaghe fight. I was watching the fight alone and still completley embarrassed.

Personally, I am one of the people who think Lacy would punish Tarver for what Calzaghe did to him.

I'm sorry but Lacy would get eaten up by Tarver. I think a lot of people are fooled by Tarver's performance against Hopkins. Hopkins just had the style to frustrate Tarver. Tarver just wanted to land one KO shot and with B-Hop's strategy and hitting and then grappling, he couldn't land anything. And Tarver was so frustrated that he didn't wanna let his hands go because Hop is too good defensively. B-Hop is a smart fighter, B-Hop would feignt, jump in with right hand leads and then hold Tarver to neutralize any offense Tarver had. Against the ropes, where Tarver does most of his work, he will be a monster against Lacy because Lacy definitely does not have B-Hop's head and body movement against the rope. Lacy would follow Tarver around all night and Lacy has the exact style that Tarver would look good against. Sorry for the diatribe, it would be a very interesting fight. It's the Quartey - Forrest @ 175.

Would be an evenly matched puncher's fest!

Tarver is the bigger man and would get the nod at the bookies, but in this type of fight i couldn't bet.

Especially with Jeff perhaps being driven by his landslide-loss.

And I don't think Lacy would be eaten alive. Remember how Hopkins beat Tarver? Hopkins got short, covered up and got inside. Lacy is 5'9 and fights at about 5'7. It's not like he is a wide puncher, he can do damage on the inside. He also has trouble against pressure fighters, a la Glenn Johnson. Lacy is about as big of a pressure fighter as they get. And he won't be out of his element vs Tarver. Can you imagine them fighting in St. Petes?

I hope the fight gets made. It would be a big rebound for Lacy.

I agree Tarver is Tailor made for Lacy...It would be awsome to see Lacy Knock Tarver out the way He did Scott Pemberton(I am stretching on this one)but it would be nice...I am a huge Lacy fan and think the fight has another interesting dynamic, everyone is saying how overratted these two are its all about FLORIDA PRIDE for these 2....

Trust me Lacy is gonna be breathing fire for this fight after what Calzaghe did to him..I actually feel bad for Tarver if this fight is made.

Let us get another round of Lacymania. The guy really deserves it with his good performance against Calzaghe.

What is it people rejects to understand about Lacy even they saw 12 rounds of slaughtering?
