Marquez doesn't belong near 140 but I pick Marquez's skills over Hattons size.

Let me include that Hattons punch resistance is declining and he would have to lose alot of weight to get down to 140. At this point in his career, his diet has caught up with him and against Marquez, it would show once again.

Marquez by KO. Neither Manny nor Floyd, nor anyone else for that matter, could put JMM away, but you think Ricky will be able to? And Ricky sure as hell ain't gonna outbox him either....

I think Hatton has a very decent shot at beating Marquez....if he hasn't slipped all that much. The Pac fight didn't tell us much because as it was only 6 minutes long, but prior to that he dominated Malignaggi in a way that even Cotto couldn't do. If Hatton has the hunger to get into tip top shape and give it his all, it could turn into a good contest.

My only concern is his current waistline. There is just no reason to get that fat, it won't come off any easier now he is in his 30's.

Hating Marquez staying at the weight...never should have been in the first place.Nearing the twilight and setting big name lucrative matches,ok.He'll have to be smart and box the shit out of hatton. He may not KO him early but Hatton will look like was dragged behind a speeding car on a bumpy gravel road when its all over.

Hatton mediocre ass is done. Only a fool would think he even has a chance. He's a knock out waiting to happen. I'm taking Juan and the under. I would take Rafael over Hatton's shot ass

I think Hatton is done too

Gotta ask you though, do you think Hatton gave Floyd a better fight than Marquez? He gave his all and got sparked but I can't think of a round where JMM looked dominant.

He gave it his all. Which I do give him credit for. But his style is what makes it look like he gave Mayweather a better fight than he actually did. But he easily lost his composure. And after that he lost his head and got more reckless than usual. Marquez never lost his. He was just out classed. If Hatton wouldn't of got knocked out, than yeah I would say he gave a better fight than Marquez. But he did. And with the comical effect around it, it's hard to say he gave the better fight

Yeah I agree. I think he lost his head at the weigh in and took that into the fight with him. Cortez had a mission that night too which pissed him off even more and the knockdown which led to the KO....Yeah I gotta agree Marquez had a better fight actually.

I think Marquez definitely wins this, but Hatton can't 'WIN' anyway.

If he wins the fight, Marquez has already just been dismantled in his last fight and is far smaller than Hatton

Thats all to do with styles.

Hatton is a swarmer and Marquez is a counter puncher plus include the fact Marquez belongs at 135 possibly even 130 where Hatton belongs at 140 and is somewhat effective at 147.

I seriously hope this is in Britain. I really want to see Marquez live, I've seen Hatton KO'd live before so there won't be any new value in that, but hopefully Marquez will give me a few more rounds to soak up the living legend that he is. Hopefully Hatton's chin can hold up to the late rounds.

Hatton apparently struggled to make 140 last time and now he's closer to 240. He's basically spent the last year on the piss, he's ancient for his style of fighting when you take into consideration the number of fights he's had and the way he's had to lose so much weight so many times, he's only going to be a shadow of his former self. He'll spend his entire training camp trying to get to 140. JMM may be older and smaller but he's in far better physical and fighting condition than Hatton and he's got exactly the wrong style for Hatton to face.

Styles make fight's and to me this is a pick 'em fight. If Hatton has something left in the tank he will give Marquez problems. First off Juan Diaz gave alot of problems to Marquez in the early going, and did have him stunned a few times. That fight was at 135 I am sure this will be at 140 were Hatton has been at a little bit longer and is much stronger than Diaz . If it is at 147 Marquez has no business being up that high I think he could get seriously hurt and yes even from Hatton. Just the physical attack of Hatton (bumping, clinching, wrestling) will be alot to handle for Marquez. Marquez is sharp but he doesn't punch that hard at the higher weight's even at 135 he had to hit Casamayor, and Diaz with everything but the kitchen sink to get them put away. It will be a great fight and if it does happen I will always go with my man Marquez. Let's see it.
