    Default The Bleep Test

Now I have been getting into some good shape over the last two months, with me being unemployed.

My cardio is quite good right now and can comfortably do 8 miles in an hour, now I fancy doing the bleep test I been looking into it and im gonna download it on the old Ipod, now has anyone here done the bleep test I remember doing it at school and I got 10.something.

Looking into it and what speeds and what distances you are doing im quite suprised to here how hard it is to complete the 21 levels, I was looking at the famous sportsman who have tried the bleep test and the one and only Seb Coe only got to level 17?? I thought he would piss the bleep test. Maybe its a bit to far for him?

Now im not the greatest mathmatician but I worked out the whole test is just over three miles the top speed you do is around 11 miles an hour and the test is completed in just over 22 minutes, now I am was going to set my self a challenge to complete this before the end of 2010 at maybe doing it once a month, but seeing all these fit athletes and other sportsman averaging around 13/14 am i aiming for the impossible??

I reckon I could bang out level 14 on my first attempt but after reading how hard it seems to be maybe I will never get anywhere near the level 21, has anyone else done in it recent times and how far have they got?

Firstly, 8 miles in an hour is really good mate. I'm doing 4 miles in just over 30 mins, but I couldn't match that for another 4 miles and I consider myself pretty fit.

Never done the Bleep test, I managed to miss it at school somehow

It's not the best test for Anaerobic threshold tbh... Seb Coe trained to run in a straight line continuously, you need to have good eleastic strength in the legs to turn quicker because when you get to the higher levels taking a second longer to turn makes all the difference.

A football player would likely score higher than Seb Coe, even if they weren't as fit Cardio wise simply because they are trained plyometrically to turn like that.

Get your self on the cooper run and see how you fair!...

I got 13 the last time I did the bleep test, I was shit at turning and my stomach was full of food... I did the cooper run and pissed it in 9:40

1.5 miles as fast as you can, if you're using a treadmill it needs to be on a 2% gradient.

The worst most painful experience in my life

Reached 18 in my hayday and had to spend the rest of the day attending to cuts and bruises on my feet.

Sounds kinda routine but its always best to go out in the pack, to not make a silly error and get caugh out early on.

As others drop off you do bizzarely find you a get little adrenaine rush each time

Yea i remember doing that in my school about 6 or 7 years ago, i remember that i was the fittest in my class.

Which wern't saying much because they were all mostly smokers, and fatties or serverly out of shape.

But hey atleast i won it, its better than losing i guess

I think at school mine varied between around 9 and 11 depending on how fit or arsed i was.

Class clowns would routinely drop out at 3 just for the laugh.

I think the school one only went up to 15 and very few people completed it.

Well, i used to get 17 or 18 at school, BUT i spoke to my friend the other day who has done it recently and it turns out at school it was measured far too short. so i was probably only doing about 11. damn.

Yes apparently there is a 15 metre test and a 20 metre test.

Yeah, I wouldn't go off the ones you did in school... some are shorter in distance, some have the levels go up quicker etc.
