Before we could get a question in, Winky Wright told Boxingtalk.com, "I know I won that fight. It was a great fight and I showed the fans that I could beat HBO's Golden Child. But I had to show them that it ain't over and I'm still here."

GL: Was there anything about Taylor that surprised you at all?

Winky Wright: "He surprised me by how much he could take. How much he took surprised me. I gave it to him upstairs, downstairs and he was hurt but he sucked it up and came on back. He definitlely got heart."

GL: How do you feel about the fight being scored a draw?

WW: "That's ludicrous, absolutely ludicrous. Everyone knows I won the fight. If you want to give him the first round, but I won the next four, then ok, I'll probably give him the sixth. But then seven, eight, nine ten I'm winning. Well, he probably won ten. I won eleven and by the twelfth round I had to be up. No way in the world it was no draw. They know I won the fight, you see the look on their face when they got the draw. They were happy with it because they know they lost. We was in their hometown and they was happy to get a draw."

GL: Personally I thought you won the fight seven rounds to five. Compare this fight to the Vargas fight. Do you feel you won this fight more cleanly than you believe you won the Vargas fight?

WW: "I don't really know, that Vargas shit was so long ago, but I know I won this fight. I took the fight to him and I brought the fight to him from round one. I gave them what they wanted and before the fight they were talking about all my defense, but what about the offense that he saw. All that talking about who got the best jab, I want to hear him say who got the best jab now."

GL: Wink, it becomes difficult for you to hear him say anything when you don't show up to the post-fight press conference. Why did you not show up?

WW: "Because. I ain't nothing to say to them but a bunch of motherfuck you's so I figured I'd just keep it to myself."

GL: It was a great fight and the rematch is the fight everyone wants to see, a rematch is very sellable right now. Do you feel you did yourself a disservice by not showing up to demand the rematch immediately with all of the press there?

WW: "Nope. I don't feel like I had to do none of that. It was a good fight and he came and showed up, but I definitely won the fight and I'm tired of them continuing to steal shit from me. It's bullshit."

GL: Most people I speak to feel the fight was very close. Did you expect him to give you such a fight after dominating Mosley and Trinidad?

WW: "I expected him to be tougher because he's bigger and stronger. Plus he never lost so he doesn't know how it feels to get hit and get hurt. I knew it was going to be tough. But I gave him four rounds and then they going to complain about me about not doing nothing in the twelfth round, but what did he do? I didn't run, I stood right in front of him and he stood right in front of me. He ain't do shit, and I definitely didn't feel I was behind so why should I go do something? He should have been the one to do something."

GL: You seemed to fight the twelfth round as though you thought you won the fight and had Taylor to something drastic. Compared to the way you fought in the previous eleven, you were fighting like someone who thought they had the fight won.

WW: "Yeah I knew I had the fight won, but he didn't do nothing. What did he do in the twelfth round that gives it to him? He didn't do nothing. Who made that fight what it was? I went to him. If he would have had his way he probably would have tried to jab around all day. I brought the fight to him and I made that fight exciting. I got inside and wanted to trade because I was trying to knock him out. I was the one who hurt him, he ain't hurt me."

GL: You guys were trading combinations throughout the whole fight. There were several times where you let off a combination and then decided to take your foot off the gas to see if he was holding back. Was that the case and why didn't you keep letting them go in certain situations when you had him on the ropes?

WW: "It was just, in certain situations I was catching him and hurting him but I knew he was going to come back with his little barrage. I was just trying to watch out for him because he was winging his shots and I didn't want to get caught with no wild shots, so I kept myself in a composed zone. In the ninth round I know I hit him on the button with a left and for all the people who say I can't punch, I buckled their big middleweight and stopped him dead in his tracks."

GL: After the fight you said no rematch. Do you still feel that way?

WW: "Yep."

GL: Why?

WW: "Let me get this right, I ain't mad at Taylor. I'm mad at the judges. It was bullshit and we worked too motherfucking hard to get where we're at and do what we do for some motherfuckers who never been in the ring and don't know what it feels like to dodge a punch show favoritism because of where we're at and who the fighter is. He's an HBO fighter with an HBO coach and we on HBO. They're not supposed to be biased their supposed to judge the fight for the fight."

GL: If you're going to stay at middleweight what other options are out there?

WW: "I don't know if I'm going to stay at middleweight, I don't know what I'm going to do yet. I know I won that fight and everyone should know I won that fight. It's just a matter of who I'm going to fight, where and when and how much."

GL: If somebody out there wants to negotiate with Winky Wright for a Winky Wright fight. Who is authorized to negotiate fights on Winky Wright's behalf?

WW: "Winky Wright. Winky Wright, Jim Wilkes and Chris Lighty. But no decisions will be made until I give the final say so, but the only people to talk to are Chris Lighty and Jim Wilkes."

GL: And promotionally speaking, it's Winky promotions, correct?

WW: "Winky Wright is promoted by Winky Promotions. Winky is his own man and own promoter right now period. I have nothing against Gary Shaw but I'm doing my own thing. We might use Gary Shaw to do some things but it's Winky Promotions point blank."

GL: When would you like to return to the ring?

WW: "By September or October. I'm in good health and my hands are good and nothing ain't wrong, so I'll be good."

GL: Do you think you surprised a lot of people with how aggressively you brought the fight to him?

WW: "Definitely. I definitely surprised a lot of people. They think I can't punch and I showed them that this was supposed to be their Superman, who is big, strong and young and he wasn't faster than me. He's throwing those wide shots with everything on them and I was picking all of that off man."

GL: What did you and Jermain say to each other in the ring?

WW: "I just told him it was a hell of a fight. Good fight. Then when they gave the score I left."

GL: Everytime I speak to you, you make it clear that you want to make the biggest and best fights out there. Obviously, after last night the fight people want to see Winky Wright in is the rematch.

WW: "Well if they want to see the rematch and that's what they want and HBO brings that money to the plate they could have it. If not, then it ain't going to happen. They're going to bring it or it ain't going to happen."

GL: Do you feel that having a draw with Jermain Taylor hurts your chances of getting a fight with Oscar?

WW: "I don't know, but I don't think Oscar wants to fight me anyway. If Oscar wants to fight we'll fight, if not he could fight Floyd. I fight who wants to fight me, if he don't want to fight me so be it."
