I saw the news this morning. What a horrible time for Miguel and his family. To lose a father like that... especially at the age of 55... has to be heart-wrenching. My thoughts and prayers also go out to the Cotto family.
In the local newspaper they were also reporting that Evangelista Cotto could barely speak through his grief. The sad part is that Miguel's problem with Evangelista caused a chill between the dad and the uncle that never got completely resolved. How terrible it must be to have your brother die before you've had a chance to make amends. It's stuff like this that leaves boxing on a much, much less important level. It's a life lesson to us all.
Also, in reading through this thread, I'm reminded why I've always loved saddoboxing and wouldn't trade it for any other boxing forum around. Everyone is classy and very sensitive at times like this, regardless of boxing preferences. Reps to all.

Didn't know there was a 24-hour rep limit. Will catch you guys on my next trip. Meanwhile, I can't help wondering what, if any, effect this will have on Miguel's career. He has, after all, suffered two brutal losses, and had talked about retiring at 30. I, for one, hope he doesn't, but I also hope he gets himself a good corner when he decides to come back.
can't help but feel sorry for the cotto family.
it's been a bad year for them, but i'm sure they can get back up from all of this.
