I too agree with Wright winning by a round, but how he fought in the 12th deserved him the draw since he had plenty left in the tank. One thing people have said all along, Winky has no heart and always fights safe, well look what fighting safe caused. Now of course he has heart, but bottom line he got lazy, and he got lazy with a style of fighting most people don't like in the first place. Should of known better Winky...
Another thing that stuck out to me though, Winky's shots had little to no effect on Jermaine, even though he was committing to them, a feather punch is a feather punch and when someone lacks power it should be taken into consideration when scoring a fight. Maybe Taylor's punches weren't getting in as cleanly as Wright's, but they were real power shots and I can see how the judges would score that.
So yes Winky won, but I honestly think if Taylor keeps trying to work his problems out he can become what Hopkins was to the middleweight division, so the draw was good for boxing in the long run. Ya gotta feel sorry for Wright to a point (partly just cause he's ugly), but he chose the style that isn't crowd pleasing. He chose not to go in for the kill in the 12th when Taylor was nearly gassed out. I'm not saying it's fair for exciting marketable fighters to have judges leaning their way, but it's the way it is and Wright should of stepped up, maybe even try to end the fight instead of purposely going after yet another decision. Maybe just maybe if he didn't always leave it in the judges hands this wouldn't of happend![]()
