From what I read and hear he's actually doing very well money wise. He just misses the sport. Morales has always stated he was born to box.

he's not broke, made plenty in his career and invested well, still making money from his promotion company and boxing magazine
his job as head of sports and recreation in Tijuana is basically done for free, he donates his paycheck to be able to help run it
