BEST IRISH FIGHTER NOT TO TURN PRO -............
Bartley Gorman. he was an undefeated and well known bareknuckle fighter, he challenged every fighter in the uk to a bareknuckle boxing match. his brother who bartley described as a heavyweight roberto duran, was so tough that he gave jerry quarry serious trouble in sparring. he was sent home the first week cos quarry coudn't handle the rugged irish! the guy never took a backward step.
this guy used to go down to other gypsy camps aged about 19 and challenge their toughest fighter and knock em out. guy was also a solid puncher!
Aged about 28 he won the well known title "king of the gypsies" and the challenges used to pour in. Gypsies used to challenge him at the most unexpected places like a party, a funeral.
he fought a dangerous gypsy fighter in 1997 when bartley was about 50, this guy who he was fighting was a tough nut. anyways, this guy henry francis, got bartley drun k chatted to him all night and then,....CHALLENEGED HIM, they had a tear up for about 5 mins before the police split it up.
the irish have alot of heart, they born to fight, their fights usually lasted way over an hour, face bloodied, pride on the line meant alot to em!
You could buy his autobiography! this guy even wanted a fight with ALI, he honestly believed he'll take ali.
