Default Mitchell to fight Katsidis for WBO belt in London

According to this the fight is on for either the O2 Arena or Upton Park in either May or June.

Either way is great for me as both are just a short drive away.

    Should be a war.

Is there anything new in that story that wasn't in the saturday fight report? That's the same situation as told on saturday night. They've just changed the headline and told the score with Guerrero.. anyway

Great match-up. Surely Mitchell isn't quite big enough for an Upton Park job?

    Mitchell KO 7-10.

Not to sure how this goes, Mitchell looks to have improved so much under Tibbs, and cant but go back to how easy Juan Diaz outboxed Katsidis year or two back, if I had to put my neck on the line and with it being in Kev's hometown I say Mitchell takes it.

Feel sorry for John Murray only 6 months ago he was seen as the best lightweight and would be going onto bigger and better things, he has not been heard off for ages and Kev has beat Prescott and now has a world title fight, that's what you get when you have a second rate promoter with no TV contract.

Can't wait for this fight though should be great.

I reckon Mitchell could well do Upton Park with the right promotion. Bring him about before a couple of West Ham games with a Hammers shirt on and you bring in people who aren't necessarily big boxing fans, but will get behind a guy from Dagenham in a world title fight.

I don't know if Mitchell stops him, but I think he wins a 115-111 decision with both guys going down once.

There's always a Kevin Mitchell fight poster up around town... I'm sure your right about Upton Park. I get the feeling Kevin Mitchell is one of those names that a LOT of Eastenders have heard of.... I think Upton Park could work.

There were a lot of empty seats at Wembley the other night. I would have expected a little more support for Mitchell if he's to do a stadium next.

    Upton Park does what? 30,000?

I gotta confess i dont know that much about Mitchell. Whats he like chin wise?
Katsidis is there for the taking for anyone with a decent chin and reasonable boxing ability. Shame really cos i love watching the guy fight, and wish he won all the time.

If Mitchell boxes Katsidis like he did Prescott, he'll win. If he gets drawn into a war you have to like Katsidis' chances.

He used to get lured into brawls, like he did vs Carl Johanneson. But i think he's matured now, and say what you want about Breidis Prescott. But he never landed one clean punch on Kevin Mitchell, he boxed a very good fight and his upper body movement was very good.

I like both fighters alot, Michael Katsidis reminds me of Arturo Gatti. But i gotta go with Kevin Mitchell being from London. And also because i have liked him for quite sometime.

This is a way bigger task than Prescott for me, Prescott lived off what he did to Khan but to me is not what many (including me) thought he would be. Taking nothing from Mitchell though he is a good little fighter but i'll make my mind up after this fight.

Also whilst i'm thinking about saturdays fights i'd like to see Cleverly fight someone along the lines of Glen Johnson or Tarver next. I really think he would take either.

Someone mentioned Clinton Woods might not be a bad test, and would be a good domestic dust up.
