#2 Dumbass Michael Wilbon said "Boxing is so over, it's sad"....oh really? I thought people were about to wet themselves with anticipation at the thought of Mayweather-Pacquiao just a few months ago.

ESPN has gone from Sports REPORTING to just being Sports Talk Radio on TV and they don't care about right or wrong, they just want to have the loudest opinion about a topic. Look at the way they handled Tiger Woods' situation, they acted like Woods was the ONLY sports icon to cheat on his wife ever in the history of sports. I'm not defending Tiger but ESPN was being stupid about it.
I'm just surprised that any man with common sense watches PTI or watch ESPN for any sort of commentary at all. IMO it's only good for highlights. It's nothing more than some tabloid rag that's up there with People Magazine, US Weekly, the National Enquirer, etc.

It's actually past that now, they actually are now the TMZ of sports.

The SPORTS they put out (College Football/Basketball, Soccer, Boxing, NFL, MLB, etc) are pretty solid, but everything else, even SportsCenter is crap and filled with "storylines" and "talking points"

Actually, Big Ben apparently rape thing has been covered by Espn: Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger accused of sexual assault - ESPN

Hopefully for my beloved Steelers that guy doesn't turn out to be another high rated athlete to be a fuck** and it is just another attempt to get money from a high profile athlete.

As for ESPN, I do not watch it that much, for boxing news sometimes and only about american football when the season begins because we don't have high profile website about these sports in Canada, there is RDS and TSN but they are correct, nothing more. Now, to say that boxing is dead is plain silly, one has to not have followed the actual scene to spew such stupid comments.

How can he US national team be in 'big trouble'?

It's not like anybody is giving you much of a chance to do anything anyway. Well not outside of the US anyway. What are the expectations inside the US? Qualifying from the group stage?

Wish I had ESPN2, just for FNFs. I like watching them and especially with the regulars because it truly sucks watching links on the PC. Especially when they are time delayed by a minute or so and you cant help but read the text in chat...to forever see, "Oh dam! He's down again. And it's over!" lol

but yea, just FNFs the rest i couldn't give a shit about.

Agreed, but once again we're talking about a group of mental midgets that don't even attempt to understand soccer. They apparently don't want to be in on the ground floor of US Soccer and see it acheive and make progress.

I (and I assume the majority of American soccer fans) believe that our team should acheive nothing less than making it out of the Group Stage. If we do not advance from the Group Stage Bob Bradley should be fired, Sunil Gulati should resign, and we should hire Klinnsman making him the US Soccer Czar will full reign over the sport in this country (or just make him coach and get the head of MLS to run the USSF or whatever the hell it is.). If the US does make it out of the Group Stage (and we certainly should) we're more than likely to finish 2nd and have to play Germany and I think it's not too much to expect that we give them a good run and "make a game of it" instead of getting blasted out 3-0 or worse. I also don't think it's too much to ask that we give England a scare either.

And Jim Rome is another ESPN GIANT Douchebag

As decent sports journalists (and ESPN should have SOME standards for hiring these guys) they can have their opinions one way or another but I am tired of them ripping on boxing and soccer when nothing is wrong with either sport. You can't say "boxing is dead" like it's a fucking fact when there will be 50 thousand people in Germany watching Klitschko-Chambers IN PERSON and millions watching on tv and when Mayweather-Mosley is probably going to beat Mayweather-De la Hoya's PPV numbers! And you can't say soccer in the US isn't progressing, the MLS has had it's struggles but #1 The US OWNS women's soccer and #2 The MLS is now adding teams, playing better quality ball, and the US National Team has progressed nicely and to ignore that is doing a disservice to sports fans (and if they had enough brains to take time and think about it) their own industry...ESPN runs both soccer and boxing and to run those sports down shouldn't be acceptable to that station

Max Kellerman was really the only guy on ESPN who stood up for boxing. Can't remember who it was but after a press conference scuffle, one analyst said something to the effect of 'boxing back to it's old self' and Max went off on him. If you want objective views on boxing just stick to HBO, as ESPN only seems interested when something bad happens.
