I had to hide out in the boys toilets and it wasn't until I started playing football that she would leave me alone. Over time I modified it, but instead of sounding northerly like everyone else I just sounded more like the BBC. It did help me blend in a little better anyway. I am completely working class, yet don't speak like anyone in my family. My parents have southern accents and my younger sister speaks with a broad Yorkshire accent. I'm the only one that speaks the way I do. I am also really good at imitating different British accents and can pick up on all the little nuances. But no, I don't sound Eton posh. That would get you a black eye in some places!
You should have punched her in the throat.
