Small is a good fighter and he should not lose to this level of opponent, he is a lot better. He has to put the work in and not take things for granted. Back to square one.

Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
I too was so happy that small lost. He is the most boring fighter in the UK today! Webb is a good fighter and i think if he had done the rounds before he would have won clearer. He seemed to be pacing himsself, yet when he opened up did all of his best work on the front foot.
I actually had Small winning by a round but was delighted that a PROPER boxer is now the Britissh champion, not some wannabe!!!
Congrats Sam Webb!!!

I was there basically ringside on Friday night & what tells you it all about the fight was that when the verdicts were announced & they heard 117-11 & 117-112, all of Webb's people started complaining about him being robbed till they suddenly realized he'd won & after celebrating they were all a bit sheepish. Almost everyone ringside who I talked to, including people who were with Webb, had it either fairly comfortably for Small or narrowly for Sam. There should be a rematch. I've met both these guys (Small is from the same amateur gym I box at & still comes around for sparring sometimes) and they're both cool guys, Smallie just plays up to the pantomime bad guy image & he wastes the wonderful athleticism he's been blessed with, but he's a really safe guy in person, as was Sam on the occasion I met him. But Small got screwed. I think a narrow win of say 115-113 for Webb wouldn't have met much complaint, but 117-111 is a joke.

I he's a safe guy, I would have said that he should come off as that. Instead he comes off as a complete tosser.... Wrong approach IMO. He is blessed with the athletisism that people just cannot achieve, but he just hasn't complimented that with any other memorable attributes atall....

Then again think about it. How much interest would there be in him if he didn't come off like that. You have to realize London isn't like other fight towns, in that it's much harder to get local support to come follow you all over the country. Kevin Mitchell, by virtue of the Dagenham/Essex connection, is the only one to really manage this in recent years.
Small actually has the full lot to be successful physically. Good power, chin & speed. What he doesn't do is work with the fundamentals. He's happy to box like he's sparring & arsing around in the gym. A big contrast was him and Dirrell. Both guys with great athletic ability, but Dirrell had a gameplan and tried to stick to it against a world-class opponent. Smallie could have made the other night a lot easier & secured the win I feel he deserved. But, he's too content to just give away rounds as he plays about. David Pereira has a nightmare with him trying to get him to stick to a plan. He could have ended his fight with McDonagh in a few rounds, but chose to drag it out, whilst he could have probably taken every round against Webb so there was no way they could take it away from him, but he didn't.

I was surprised when they called Webb the winner too. It was close though. Small looked like he could have won if he wanted it more.
Funny that Webb's cut turned the fight up a few gears. Mick Williamson coming up trumps again
3-Time SADDO PREDICTION COMP CHAMPION.

It was a close fight, by no means was it robbery, but when those wide cards were announced, everyone thought it was a Small win. It's also a by-product of Small pissing fans off why no one will give a fuck & he'll be lucky to get a rematch. I have to say one thing I'd do if I heard Mick Williamson was in the other corner is make him a better offer to be in mine. We've seen him save 2 fighters from likely defeat in the past month.

Fair point man, I imgagine he's certainly not the only boxer from london tryin to make it, I just like to follow people that are talented boxers combined with bein a decent fella, and wouldn't like the thought of people thinking i'm an absolute idiot, when in reality, i'm not. Puts me off him that he comes across as a tool is all.

Small does seem like if he wasnt such a prick he has good ability , he reminds me of Howard Eastman , not so much in style but in the fact he fights within himself , and looks like hes coasting all the time.
