3-Time SADDO PREDICTION COMP CHAMPION.
You can speculate all you want, but I'm waiting for the medical results to state if he was concussed or not, then I will pass judgement. You know brain injuries can have really bizarre delayed actions, I mean anyone remember Oscar Diaz in between rounds against Delvin Rodriguez?
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.
To be honest Jaz, to someone not versed in the science of neurology, I saw it as Dirrell taking a shot, looking at AA in a little disgust, holding his nose and then lying down and wincing, slight wrythe and a shake. Then getting up, whining, crying and saying Let me breath, Let me breath man.... I just all seemed kinda fit for screen you know..... Can't help it. I just wish for his sake he would have won that straight like he was doing... Would have been so much better for everyone involved. Ha.
I'm no neurologist, I've just seen it happen to plenty of guys before, both up close & on tv. You have to remember that Gerald McClellan didn't go down immediately, Z Gorres was up for a few minutes after his fight before lapsing into a coma & even Taylor was trying to get up.
I didn't think he looked at him, I saw his eye start twitching to one side, a drop & then pawing around his eyes (which I've noticed a lot of people do when this happens, must be a nerve reaction or something). Those convulsions were not fake. If you saw the aftermath of the Gorres-Melendez fight, it reminded me a lot of that. Afterwards, he was convinced he'd blown the biggest fight of his career & was most likely concussed. He was talking gibberish, that's not built for the screen.
I think if you're trying to imply he's not a real man for how he acted when he got up, you need to reflect on how he fought & how he roared back at Abraham in the 5th I think when he got caught. He learned the lessons of the Froch fight & last night he showed real heart. I think the reaction was almost entirely down to believing he'd lost & also major concussion.
One argument I've seen given is he took harder shots (I'm not saying you've said this) during the fight and stayed up. The crucial thing there is his feet were underneath him. When you've not got your feet underneath you & your body is loose like his was the shots hit you much harder. When you consider how hard AA punches, I'm amazed he wasn't stretchered out of there. These guys were my 2 favourites going into the tourney, but I was cheering on AA last night, but it is him and him alone who is responsible for anything negative to do with last night.
In defence of Abraham I will say this. Dirrell ducks low a lot, so Abraham with the blood in his eye may well have believed his feet were planted. Also his reaction immediately afterwards may also be a result of the testosterone and anger at himself for losing, so not too much stock should be put in that. He's a decent guy & HIS actions at the post-fight presser would reflect this.
However, there are 2 very serious issues that need to be addressed with the Abraham camp, not him particularly. The first is the water in the corner that caused the slip. They were warned about this more than once, and yet just left it there, possibly suspecting Dirrell would gravitate towards it. There needs to be an investigation of AA's corner team, because any corner whether pro or amateur should know to dry off the corner before the round starts. The second is the apparent insistence of their camp that Dirrell undergo steroid tests post-fight before he was treated for concussion. Gary Shaw has alleged this & if true, seriously fuck them, the fighter's welfare is more important, a piss test can be done a couple of hours later.
Oh yeah & fuck Mick Hennessey for apparently taking the piss out of Dirrell's family as they walked him back to the dressing room. Whatever you feel about Dirrell, taking the piss out of his wife & family is unacceptable if you're a fan, let alone a 'respected' promoter.
I'll download that fight and educate myself better, never seen it, and I'm well aware of the deal with McClellan. Your absolutely right on the feet planted issue. When your neck is completely relaxed as his probably was then thats where it is more dangerous. It just all appeared like some big ass panto style ending with Dirrell crying.
I don't like Henessey atall, if he did that, then shame on him. If he was wearing one of those absolutely shocking, oversized polo shirts at the time then even more shame on him.
What does me being a Mod have to do with anything? I haven't censored anyone and I'm allowed to give my opinion just like every one else. Explain how that is bad modding, if you can.
You can't back up your position about the fight with any facts at all. You make baseless accusations and assumptions with no knowledge being them and then whine about it when someone calls you out for your own ignorance.

Hell, maybe its just a little of the Boy Who Cried Wolf. He spent so much time being a lame ass against Froch and falling over instead of getting him out of there, which he was absolutely capable of doing, that him being a lame ass again is certainly not out of the question and is much easier to believe. Maybe thats clouded my judgement, I don't know, someone coming out and telling me he has concussion is certainly not gonna change my mind with regards to my view of the panto. I just wanna see some serious toughness from him, that when the shit hits the fan, he can deal with it, he was definately getting there last night then he'd be an awesome figter IMO. If he'd have dealt with Abraham for the last 2 rounds I would be over the moon.
Just out of interest, he didn't suffer a concussion. which is odd, considering he was 'totally out of it' and he was convulsing.
