Calzaghe admits to cocaine use

If someone is doing cocaine or drugs like that if it becomes an addiction(not saying it will) then people should get involved sooner. If your friend was on cocaine would you not do anything cause its his private life?

I know that question isn't directed at me, but I have friends who occasionally do hard drugs like cocaine and I have no problem with it at all. They're responsible adults and they can choose to act the way they see fit (again, within reason). If one of them because a heavy user or an addict, of course I would be concerned, but until then (and I doubt it ever happens) it's fine by me. It's no different than any who occasionally drinks heavily, like myself, and I'd wager it's probably on par in regards to the physical damage it causes.

What I will say to that is, that there is a reason cocaine is illegal and drinking isn't.

Corporate politics and international relations? That doesn't address the real point here anyways. I'm sure Calzaghe, like myself, you, and everyone else has done plenty of illegal things in his life. As long as those things don't hurt anyone else, they shouldn't be used to smear his name.

How sad. I've gone from not really liking Calzaghe as a fighter to now feeling sorry for him. But none of this should take away from his accomplishments inside the ring, whether I liked his style or not.

Sure, I'm disappointed that a sporting idol I've followed all my adult life has sunk to the level of appearing on reality tv shows and publicly dumping a long term girlfriend for a bit of fluff. I'd also rather that drugs such as cocaine were wiped off the face of the planet ("dabbling in sniff doesn't harm anyone"? - the drug trade kills thousands across the globe each year in gang fights and misuse) but hey I'm not gonna waste my breath preaching to retards. However, I do feel sorry for Calzaghe, all this highlights is that he needs to grow up a bit. How ironic that despite his sporting achievements this is the first time he's made the front page of a national newspaper. Says it all about this hype em up and knock em down obsession the media has with our celebrities.

I've heard gossip of Calzaghe using coke in Cardiff on a night out for atleast 5 years so this isn't a new development unfortunately. Drugs and lack of morals have been around for centuries, it's a shame they're both becoming more widespread but I wouldn't go as far as saying JC was a bad person. Not at all. Oh and one more thing - Joe is as knowledgable about boxing as any of us here. He was clearly joking/being sarchastic about Hatton being knocked out by a 'nobody' so please don't hold that against him.

I think the fact that it's his first headline and he is billed as "strictly star" says more about the sorry state of the general public than it does Joe Calazaghe.
