One of boxing's saddest stories gets a bit sadder. I think he's out of "if's" at this point, he's going to end up killing himself or in jail for the rest of his life.

I agree he will die if he does not drastically change. Death wish.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
Damn, beat me to it. This guy has almost died so many times, and he's lived a hard life...he may end up attempting suicide again. I have a bad feeling he may OD on cocaine again; that's why he's in jail, so we know he's still on it.
When your condition stipulates you shall not take coke while on probation and that you do, it looks very very bad, it was soooo simple!!

That's the way it is, not the way it ends
I just seen this story too. This guy really needs to change his life around.
Aww Damn Tapia. You dont have to live up to the nickname at every chance man.Think he'll end up in a cell or a box....he needs to be saved from himself and at least has eyes on him while locked up.
Underneath all of the tragedy and demons....a great no holds barred all passion fighter.A true pleasure to watch.
Sad to hear this about Tapia. Quite possibly the greatest 115 pound fighter ever.
per the albuquerque journal this morning, tapia and his manager (his wife) both claim this time he is absolutely innocent and will soon be vindicated. he claims he's taking a medication for an ear infection and he also says "this is the first time i've been innocent". who knows, maybe he's saying the truth this time.
Saddest part is Tapia is a genuinely nice guy who has suffered from addiction most of his grown up life....If not for Drugs Tapia would have been perhaps one of the best if not the best fighter under 126lbs ever....
all i know is that here in albuquerque, tapia is king whether he's on drugs or not. people love him over here as he's like this great iconic figure. i've met tapia before and he's a really nice guy with a good heart. his only problem is his damned drug addiction. i swear if this guy ever got his shit together and ran for mayor he would win in a landslide. that's how much he's revered here.
Hopefully he's right and he's squared away, I hope so. Still, this is an ongoing saga since I started following boxing I've known about Tapia's demons.
Tapia's demons are just to much for him to handle. I remember reading an article on him a long time ago. It was on KO magazine I believe. Talking about the flash backs he gets would make a normal man commit suicide. They wouldn't be able to handle them. He always stated he doesn't have a drug problem and can do with out them. But the flash backs just won't go away. He said he looks forward to dying. Doesn't matter where he goes. Anything is better than dealing with what he does. He ain't scared of hell. Cuz he's already living it. But he knows him dying would tear his wife apart. And he can't do that to her. So he takes the drugs to help him cope. Knowing he shouldn't. But he does. Makes the demons go away.
