It's a horrible style and Hopkins keeps on getting away with it. Fighters should bring it up before the fight and make a point of not letting him get away with it. I've never been a Hopkins fan (and it made me quite unpopular on this site a few years ago when he was riding high)

I always thought he was a spoiler, a bit of a scuffler who was hardly ever in good fights ...... a tough guy to beat because he knows all the old tricks and moves. I always thought he was distasteful .... wearing an executioners costume into the ring for a sport where several thousand people have died over the years.

He never has had any respect for an opponent, and these are all brave skilled guys who get in there at that level.

I noticed that he made more defences than Monzon or Hagler - I'm sorry, but he didnt defend against the likes of Hearns and Duran. The middleweight division was actually overshadowed by the supermiddles for most of his career, whereas it didnt exist when the other guys were around so more people fitted into the middleweight class.

He has also devalued his own reputation with his ridicilous gamesmanship and play acting against calzaghe and now Jones. Both fighters who would have easily defeated him when he was in his prime, just like James Toney, Nigel Benn and others.

Go away, Bernard, you are an insult to the fight game.
