Point is while there's isn't probably anyone that can right now other than mosley or pac that can at WW legitimately beat him. The division is no longer as appealing as it once was because they've defeated each other WHILE floyd was playing retired or fighting smaller men.. here you go in no particular order..

SSM v Cotto
Cotto v Margo
Margo v SSM
SSm v collazo
Collazo v berto
Cotto v pacman
Clottey v cotto
Clottey v Pacman
Margo v clottey
Margo v cintron
Williams v quintana
Willams v Margo

all while floyd was doing this:

floyd v hatton (small man, that floyd only fought after collazo exposed him)
floyd v JMM (please, no explanation needed)
Floyd v Baldoblaster (not smaller but def didn't belong in the ring)
floyd v odlh (old out shape fading big name money fight, but certainly wasn't a real threat)

So yeah fighting shane is a great fight, but the fact is he is 38 years old and has been in wars, fighting floyd is win win for shane. Floyd however is in a bad situation because he could have easily fought Cotto, shane, margo, and clottey all before pac even moved up or before they tore each other to shreds. And there wouldn't be any reasonable doubt had floyd won those fights he'd be recognized as best since RJJ..
Once again it has always been SHANE'S choice not to fight Mayweather. Not the other way around Shane being 38 when he fights Floyd is on him.

And did you really just say Oscar was Out of Shape when he fought Mayweather?

Seriously?
Polly can have a cracker for that recycled nonsense....

and yeah oscar wasn't in shape..he was old and fading. his optimum weight was 147...so by the the time floyd got to him he was too old to be effective at 154 and too fat to get down to 147..

Oscar hadn't fought at 147 in around 5 years before he came up against Mayweather and was in great shape for that fight.

Oscar was the one whom picked the weight class, the gloves, the ring, it was his promotion.

If you think Oscar was out of shape and spent at 154 when he fought Mayweather then you're extremely reaching. Why would Oscar have been better prepared at 147 when he hadn't fought there in 5 years and had already shown he could fight at 154 effectively not to mention his last performance being a domination of Ricardo Mayorga where he dropped him violently in the first round.

Yes Oscar looked completely spent before the Mayweather fight?

Oscar only started looking bad when after that he tried to move back down to 147 and he looked absolutely crap against Steve Forbes and then fought Pacquiao who finished off what was left.

The last fight Oscar was live in was the Floyd fight where he had every advantage over Floyd like I said, ring, promotion, gloves, and weight class not to mention Oscar's title.

So if you think Oscar at 154 against Mayweather was just an out of shape shell you'll reaching greatly to take credit away from that victory.

People that don't give Mayweather enough credit are called 'haters' yet people that try to give him too much credit are called 'nuthuggers'.

In my opinion trying to insinuate that Oscar was spent and out of shape shell of himself in their 154 pound matchup is a 'hater' comment. He should get full credit for that win thats the last time we saw a live Oscar De La Hoya before he tried moving down and looked like crap. Up until that point the only time he looked bad was at 160 when he WAS out of shape against Sturm.
