Also I heard Montell Griffins had KOd him badly in sparring leading up to the Fight, from a very good source.

That's what I was talking about! Very hard sparring, McClellan may not have been in the best shape and those rabbit punches probably didn't help out though.

I didn't know that he had hard sparring with Griffin, but I had heard he may have been going in the ring with a possible head injury and that the MRI scans had not been carried out before the fight the way they have to be in world level fights these days.

I assume that these stories are linked and from what i've read in this thread I would have to say that it sounds like a likely assumpton too. I just wonder what would have happened had the fight ended when Gerald had Benn in trouble early on?? Would he have still ended up in a bad way or, if he was carrying a head injury already, would it have been found and sorted before any lasting damage occured
