If Haye is really in dire need of a long rest after pulling out of 2 fights in the last year and fighting a whopping 2 more, then he might as well try something new. This man is not a proper boxer. A real fighter digs in deep and fights a good 3-4 times a year until he is regarded as great. No way Haye is anywhere near that level yet. What a phoney.

An English teacher who has expectations about fighters in the sport he loves most, I might add. You don't see me cancelling lessons at the last minute because I'm not happy with certain students nor the money I myself originally negotiated.

I am a full time English teacher and a consummate pro in what I do. More than what can be said about part time Haye and his once a year approach to his own profession. There is no room for slacking in any profession, especially in one where your shelf life is so short.

I just think Haye should stay busy and push on for greatness. If he is serious about retiring at 31, where is the sense in taking any extended break in 2010 after beating the mighty John Ruiz? It makes no sense to me.

And I agree about being a professional in whatever you're doing. In my profession as an concept artist, if I were to pull out after verbally agreeing with 2 clients, then more than likely my reputation in the business takes a considerable massive hit. Word will spread around that I'm wasting people's time and not being a consummate pro.

But with boxing and all the bullshit politics involved can this happen and you have legions of people defending it left and right and blaming it on the other guy.

If by that I mean he should have backed up his own words then yes I am crying about a fighter not entertaining me. Boxing IS entertainment, the money he gets is directly correlated to entertaining the fans, the fans don't get entertained, fans stop showing up and then no one gets paid.

No one doubts that a boxers life is dangerous, but he made that choice to live a lifestyle that puts himself in danger for the entertainment of the fans. Therefore he is obligated to do that ONE thing to get a paycheck step in the ring and entertain the fans.

They are not the same. I didn't bring up being an English teacher though. All people are saying is that it isn't unreasonable to expect a top level boxer to be fighting a good 3 times a year. Both of the Klits are doing it, so why does Haye who is not on their level yet need to be taking breaks now? He should be looking to be fighting them right now.
