I didnt even see the fight but did it remind anyone of Mosley/Wright
Boxing commentators used to be unbiased...which is what it should be.
RIP Don Dunphy
I believe the blame can be shared equally by both sides. The point of negotiation is to reach an agreement which is feasible to both sides. Not you guys do this or else. You must give Pacquiao's team credit they were willing to compromise. We saw on 24/7 how invasive and how irritating the testing process can be. They should just meet in the middle and get the fight done. You have to realize how ridiculous Mayweather's requests are in theory. Imagine Bill Belichick saying the Patriots won't play the Colts unless they do his drug testing. Mayweather isn't above the commission. Let's just meet in the middle and get the fight already.
If Manny is clean then whats the problem?
IMO theres only one reason he refused to take the tests...
The issue that most ignore is that boxing has virtually no valid drug testing. Other sports are more sophisticated. There are few rules in boxing; many are negotiated by the fighters
Everyone has to realize we're dealing with multimillionaires here. Do you really think it's that financially significant to Pacquiao or his handlers to feel as if he's being bullied in the negotiation process.
even if pacman waS TAKING steriods do you really think he would risk it all for roids i think not its just another excuse to delay the fight until pacman loses loses some confidence then ull here run mayweather talk his shit
Pacneedle will refuse to take the tests again and the media will blame Floyd for the fight not being made.
yeah pacman is a steriod freak please theres other ways to gain weight and put muscle than steriods cmon if u ever workout u would know
I completely agree that it's a good thing to have the highest standard of testing in a sport. However the sport has to institute the testing. People in the sport can't just pick or choose what others should do. This is a trivial analogy but for the Canadian folks on here look at visors in hockey. Everyone knows they're good but think if the Canadiens say we're not playing the Leafs unless you all wear visors. They'd say to hell with you guys. If the Nhl said everyone's wearing visors they'd say alright.
Main thing I don't think people saw coming was that Mayweather after being stunned came right out and right at Shane Mosley he didn't run away he didnt spend the rest of the round on his bike. He sprouted wings and a tail and became a dragon just like Nazim said he would and came forward and started pushing Mosley back all night. I expected Mayweather to outbox Mosley, but I didn't think he would walk him down the way he did. No one has ever dominated Mosley that badly ever and i strongly think if Mayweather had decided to pressure Mosley then he would have stopped him or forced Nazim to throw in the towel
Yeah, what I started to try to write a couple different ways but didn't manage to. Floyd was aggressive, after almost getting KTFO in round 2. He didn't run away from this arguably harder puncher to win by potshots. He took the fight to Mosely and just outscored him with speed and timing. Exactly the kinds of things he is most often criticized for didn't happen here, against a welterweight, and he came forward to Mosely after getting hurt.
That shows a lot of things about Floyd's heart as well as his skill.
But it's also his skill to know that if he tried to run and fight cutsie solely from the outside against Sugar Shane, he'd probably get caught again, and it might end the fight next time. So taking it to Shane wasn't just heart, it was skill and understanding. He knew he had to go to Mosely and outbox him within Mosely's range to keep Mosely off him.
So he did. Because he could.
At least, that's how it looks to me.
Although I'm no Floyd fan, what he and Mosley did in the run up to the fight with regard to testing can only be a good thing. Surely nobody can disagree with that? A totally level playing field is best for every sport.
If Manny truly respects the sport, he'll take the tests and will contribute to a better and safer future for boxing in the process. Mayweather didn't invent the testing system, he is simply using the most comprehensive one currently in place. A good thing, no?
