True, I am very cynical and I'm a little sad that Mosley couldn't do more. Yes, Floyd did the job he set out to do and he deserves credit for doing that. Just like he deserved credit for beating up an unbeaten Hatton. Just like he deserved credit for outworking a bigger DLH. I am cynical, but in my defence I do give credit to the victor. It was one sided from the third onwards and I know that. But, yeah the cynic in me refuses to credit it all to Mayweathers skills as I really don't think we saw a peak condition Mosley.
Mayweather may have had something to do with the way Mosley looked.

If Mayweather had fought Mosley's pace like Margarito did then it may have ended the same way, but Floyd made Shane fight his pace.

A lot of the reason Shane looked bad tonight was because Mayweather made him look that way and did that to him.
It works both ways though. Sure Mayweather had all the goods in there, but this was not a 28 year old Mosley. He clearly isn't the same fighter. The Mayorga fight was a warning sign and that was nearly 2 years ago and followed on almost a year from the Cotto loss. The Margarito fight with hindsight will go down as Mosley's last hurrah and a great showing it was too. The long layoffs and age have only accentuated the slide. You've also got to factor in Mosley only having had about 5/6 fights in the last 5 years.

Of course Floyd deserves his props, but we shouldn't ignore the obvious facts. Facts which were also raised before the fight. I don't know of any other fighter in recent memory besides Hopkins who has at 38 remained competitive at top 10 PFP level. It is inevitable that people will question the win and Mosley's lacklustre performance will only add to that.

Floyd deserves his props and he'll get em from me. Love him or hate him, he backs up his shit when he climbs thru the ropes. And that he did tonight.

So for that, he gets my respect.

Definitely interested in seeing what Freddie has to say after this.
I got to see exactly what i wanted to see: Floyd tested out early to see if he can work his way out of a fix.
Full credit to him. Loved that bear hug to Mosleys arm , Floyds a very smart fighter in any situation and at any distance.

    But, but, but ...

The thing that remains intangible - put Mosely in against any other welter (but one that doesn't have concrete in his gloves) and you would probably have seen a different Mosely. Then you'd be comparing his ability to fight at top 10 level with Hopkins, even at 38!

In philosophy it's called 'non-falsifiability' ... if there is never any argument or fact that could prove my position wrong ... then my position is probably untenable. It just becomes a private thought with no connection to reality.

the win is unquestionable, and round 2 provides a "difference" than had Floyd just gone out there and outboxed him every round.

No gushing, just fact ... but please call it gushing if you want. Proof was in the ring last night.

    But, but, but ...

i'm no Mayweather nutthugger but the excuses people make sometimes are ridiculous, before the fight people were all, Floyd is gonna lose when he steps up against a REAL welterweight

well he just beat the shit out of the guy who was the recognized LINEAL welterweight champion

here are some of the excuses i'm expecting to hear

"Shane was over trained, he's been training for Mayweather since September..., he never was gonna fight Berto"

"Shane nose clearly hadn't healed from the surgery yet"

"Shane was old, even if he beat the shit against Margarito (the then recognized lineal champ) in his last time out, and he was the favorite against Berto"

"It's simple, Shane obviously was poisoned by the ink from his tattoo, combined with the constant blood draining a.k.a the drug tests he was drained, Floyd sabotaged him"

    pure bullshit

    Completely one sided fight.

Ironically Floyd is simply too far superior to his contempories for his wins to enhance his legacy. He makes his opponents look so bad that beating them doesn't seem a big deal.

It's a strange paradox, but if Floyd wasn't quite as good, he'd actually be more highly regarded.
    It's true.

Similar thing with Calzaghe when he fought Lacy and the Kessler. I know it's a different level, but if Calzaghe had beaten Kessler in the same way he beat Lacy, he wouldn't have got half the credit for it. Same with Mayweather, who's doing it to opponents of a much higher level.

Fight Tall Paul and then we will give real respect.
