It's only a mugs game if you don't understand it.

Major bookies don't even price up minor events let alone take huge liability bets on them. The Burnett-Maguire match was live on the BBC at the UK championships.

Millions of fans are not bothered by corruption in sport

As said fenst i totally agree punish the hell out of actual match fixers at major tournaments as it completely ruins the concept of a fair game

But 1 frame in a tournament nobodys even gonna know is on let alone put money on, the only losers i see coming out of this is the cash happy bookies

Mate if you think it only happens at the small non televised events, it is not the case the Burnett Maguire match was at The UK Champs the second biggest event on the snooker calander.

How are the bookies gonna take any money on it if no one knows it's on? What about the exchange players? For conmen to pay hundreds of thousands you are talking about serious amounts of money wagered.

You can't just place any bet you like in a bookies. Large sums on small betting events are instantly detectable. Last year betting was suspened in a match between Ebdon and Wenbo because a few grand had been placed in seperate £100 and £200 bets on a 5-0 scoreline. Just a few grand.

At the end of the day - it doesn't matter what level you're at, any professional sportsman that throws a game/match should be banned.

yep - he's screwed and it should be career over. I reckon it will be too

As said theres two questions he can't answer - i) why he was there and ii) why he didn't report it

    so game over

Still think the tabloids get away with murder by setting individuals up - who they going to target next month ?

If there's some financially desperate sports star out there (and who's saying higgins wasn't) with gambling debts, drug debts etc... and the carrot gets dangled then to me the journalists are as much to blame.

Yeah I agree 100%. I mean if it's a crime to accept bribes, then surely it's a crime to offer them?

It's like setting up a child porn website in order to lure people into giving their credit card details.

I must admit I think the newspapers are the scum of the earth, and journalists are bottom feeders along with ped's, drug pushers and job dodgers like myself

Annoys the hell out of me how the enticers get away with the stuff they do (which is clearly illegal) by using the argument that the person theyve set up has clearly done something which is worse.

Pretending to be someone in the hopes of a stitch up has gotta be borderline rapist material!!

I like John Higgins though, seems a nice chap and for that reason I hope he gets away scott free.

His manager looks a bit smarmy though, bring the book down on him.
