Im not doubting you but it does seem a strange move for Mzartinez. The fight would make him millions more than any other fight and Floyd may beat him but is less likely to hurt him than a true middleweight puncher like Pavlik.

It's because Martinez is contractually binded to fight Pavlik again. If he even mentions a fight with anyone else, then Top Rank and Bob Arum can sue.

This was confirmed over at boxing scene after scores of idiots were saying Martinez was scared and ducking Floyd.
