Margarito has hit this guy with alot of good shots and apart from the rd 1 knock down it aint bothered Garcia and he aint got a face like Cotto had... just goes to show what a difference the wrapped hands made.

Agreed, there is little doubt in my mind that he busted up Cotto so bad with hardened gloves and against other opponents prior to that too. Margarito is a crude brawler with little power without that advantage. He didn't put much of a dent in Garcia at all and he threw a lot of punches.
To me it looks like Kermit has a serious screw loose!
First off, I thought that although Kermit had a puncher's chance, PW would win. Mostly because I thought Kermit would stand straight up with his chin out, sans any head movement. But also because the pressure of PW, would be so similar to Margarito. I thought he looked like he was on the verge of folding against Angulo too, another pressure fighter.
Even though I was biased toward PW to start with, I was really impressed that Kermit was tucking his chin, ducking low, and showing good head movement. On top of that, he came out with a better rhythm than PW in the first 2 rounds, and was countering effectively.
I don't think it's outlandish that PW got the nod though, as he was pressing and throwing more, and some judges regard that more highly than others. But I had the score at 3-1 for Kermit (seems most here forget that the partial round was scored). I gave Kermit the partial 4th due to the big right he landed.
Unfortunately, I also think that punch may have been Kermit's undoing! It seems so ludicrous to suggest this, but it appears to me that the fact that PW took that punch well and continued to up the pressure, made Kermit look for an out. Even from the first time I saw it, and more and more each successive replay, it just looked to me like Kermit leaped out of the ring. He made no attempt to stop himself, instead he ducked his head right between the ropes!
Then, "He wanted to continued, but doctor wouldn't allow him to."!? Bullshit! He laid there motionless for minutes and minutes (probably crying the whole time). Then after they had rolled him over and started strapping him, in he mumbled weakly that he was OK, and feebly flailed his arms. If he had wanted to continue, he would have angrily pushed the doctor off, and gotten back in the ring.
I think when PW took that punch, and really, seemed to wake up and get energized by it, Kermit saw visions of Margarito dancing in his head, and wanted no part of it.
If I'm wrong, then I apologize to Kermit. If I'm right, he should just retire! I guess we'll see if Kermit starts demanding a rematch...
I loved it when PW said that he hoped he was OK, and hated to see him get hurt like that, because he really wanted to hurt him with his fists!![]()
