Arum says that, if Mayweather doesn't happen, he could fight the winner of Cotto-Foreman at light middleweight. He is also looking at Margarito - be interesting to see how he much 'damage' he does without the plaster in his gloves.

Fwiw, I wouldn't want to see him fight Miguel Cotto again. As much as I love Miguel.

Thats really too bad, they're already looking at alternatives. I didn't have much hope anymore anyway.

side note i have a feeling if he ends up fighting Cotto again, Cotto may ask for testing too. just a hunch...what do you think?

I agree mate, the fact other names are being mentioned doesn't look good does it? Another fight with Cotto doesn't exactly wet the appetite - even at 154lbs. I assume that if they can't get the fight with Mayweather, winning another title at an eighth weight is the next best thing for him - although it is definitely not what the world wants to see.

As for the testing, you have a good point. I'd be more inclined to ask for the testing if I was Miguel Cotto (after he beats Yuri Foreman ) - especially seeing as he will be coming up another weight division. Then again, Cotto may not want to turn down the payday regardless if Manny agrees to the random testing or not.

After that B.S. with Margarito's plastered hands, he's become public enemy #1 in my book. Haven't been so pissed off about a boxer's actions since Vargas juiced for the DeLaHoya fight, and that was a lot less offensive than Margarito's actions: punk could have killed Cotto that night! I think he should have served some time for that crap. After all, it just tarnishes an already badly tarnished sport that much more.

I hope Cotto gets him in the ring again and throws him a beating...a bad beating!

Funny you should say that as I watched the fight for the first time since KNOWING that Margarito, more than likely, had plaster in his gloves earlier on. No one can tell me he didn't use it in the fight and that, against Mosley, was the first time he has done it. It's like people who get caught drinking or cheating on their girlfriends - it's probably not the first time they have done it but it's the first time that they have been caught. He had more to gain in the Cotto fight imo and I am convinced he was packing it. We all know that Cotto cuts quite easily but his face after that face was a mess and his nose would just randomly piss blood throughout that fight. He was, arguably, the better fighter in that bout but what can you do when the other bloke has plaster in his gloves and is pounding your face and body with it.

I felt so sorry for Miguel Cotto watching that - and it was actually hard viewing if I'm being honest.

for those of you who think margarito is going to get easily beaten and has zero chance to beat pacquiao are sadly mistaken. i see margarito giving pacquiao all kinds of hell and might even stop him. margarito is going to laugh at pacquiao's punches and go after him non-stop. i give margarito a heck of a chance if he fights pacquiao. he's physically bigger, stronger and he didn't look all that bad last weekend. in fact, it looks like he's improved on his defense.

The whole quote by Arum reminds me of football (soccer) agents trying to force a club's hand by saying there is already interest in their player 'from abroad' so they best put in a bid or lose him to another side.

Always good to have options but a Cotto fight is pointless.He may try to push a Foreman fight but with the exception of picking up another trinket,its a hard sell.I personally think Foreman tops Cotto when they meet.

Still not convinced the room is big enough for Manny and Mayweathers egos.May very well find many speed bumps.Margarito fight would be interesting and no doubt create a huge buzz.Sell it as good vs bad.All speculation aside Tony has the name recognition and ties to legit major players in division.
