Default Pavlik done at 160 (sorry if this is a repost)

Kelly Pavlik is moving up in weight from 160 to either 168 or 175....I think this marks the begining of the end for Kelly. At 168 (much less 175) he's no longer the "big boy" he can't bully those guys anymore. I can't wait for Kelly to get destroyed at the higher weight classes.

despite what you might have heard, not all fighters need a size advantage over their opponent to win a fight

Given Pavlik's style this move will only hurt him. I thought Taylor beat him in the rematch at 166 despite Taylor being pretty much all used up at that point.

Pavlik was never a great boxer, he's a brawler and he uses his size and strength vs his opponents....this move will hurt

he's not the most technical fighter but i could see him easily beating guys like Green, Bika, and Andrade

if he can draw them into wars he has a shot against Froch, Abraham, and Kessler, he still has power a good chin and neither one of those guys has too much in the speed department which is where Pavlik starts to get beat, for that same reason Bute, Ward, and Dirrell all take him

    Green - sure
    Andrade - probably
Bika - I'm not so sure

I think Pavlik is just going to get murdered at the higher weight classes. Hopkins and Martinez and to a much lesser extent Jermain Taylor have blue printed the way to beat Pavlik.

I even think Carl Froch could beat Pavlik at this point in time

I am still very interested in what happens at 175. Jack Loew was talking about a possible match-up with Chad Dawson and I don't think that would be a bad fight at all. I would give him a good chance at upsetting Dawson.

I think Pavlik's boxing skills are INCREDIBLY underrated, especially since the Bhop humiliation. Pavlik is no slouch, he has a good jab that can really be effective when he choses to use it. I thought he was doing great against the INCREDIBLY slick Martinez after the first 3 rounds up until the cut messed up his vision. He showed an educated jab and a real good sense of timing.

Kelly Pavlik is not the "1 dimensional brawler" that a lot of you guys think he is, this guy has the skills to compete with the top 168lbers IMO.

I really doubt about that, in fact I’d consider an upset if Pavlik would win more than 1 or 2 rounds against Bad Chad.
It would be just another Dawson – Adamek.

He will be competitve at 168, but he won't contend. He just met too really bad match-up style wise in Hopkins/Martinez. I would pay the PPV fee to see him fight Froch or Bika. Those would be good solid fights.

To be honest I wouldn't think it would be that much of an upset if Pavlik beat Chad. Chad is a very good boxer but he is no were near as slick or defensive master as B-Hop,or Martinez.Pavlik has looked like s**t in his last big fight's but Chad does get hit. Adamek knocked him down and Johnson did too. That only leads me to believe that Pavlik could as well. I believe in what Jack Loew said about fighting to fight not to get into shape and train 4 times a day to get the weight down.Remember Adamek couldn't make weight anymore when he fought Dawson. Now look at him. I believe Pavlik could do the same thing.

^I like Pavlik too but if he jumps 2 weight divisions and beats the #1 guy at that weight, then I'd say it would be a pretty big upset.

More people hate Pavlik than like him on these boards. I'm not one. However, Pavlik is in over his head at 68 or 75. He should try in his next two fights, which he'll undoubtedly lose, to secure his biggest pay days and then retire.

A couple things that have been said have been utter ridiculousness.

Saying Dawson-Adamek at 75 would be similar to Dawson-Pavlik is complete ridiculousness. Dawson would knock Kelly out in under 5 rounds. His power won't translate.

Someone said they thought Taylor beat Pavlik at 65. That is ridiculous. I got love for Taylor too, but come on that fight was Pavlik by at least 3 rounds. As Mobb Deep said Taylor looked shook. Pavlik scared the crap out of Taylor after knocking him senseless in that first fight. You just can't win a fight when you are that scared of your opponent.

Pavlik beat Green? Seriously? Green would knock Kelly out. Even Andrade or Bika would have a great shot at beating Kelly. In fact, I'd favor them although Pavlik would go into the fights as the favorite.

Bute-Pavlik is the best fight for Pavlik because at least he'll be paid on HBO when he loses.

Before the Martinez fight, I thought Kelly just had an off night against Hopkins and the weight was a disadvantage. Now, I'm more of the opinion that Kelly won when he could manhandle his opponents, which he could do against most of the people at 60. He won't have that advantage anymore and thus I think he's on a downward spiral. It's that or his loss is indicative of the fact he is losing the battle against his demons outside the ring. Either way, I'd be suprised to see him win another big fight.

I don't hate Kelly Pavlik I'm just not a fan of his. As Rantcatrat said his style doesn't translate well into those division where guys can punch with power AND box look at 168 is there anyone in the top 6 he could even contend with? Abraham? Dirrell? Ward? Kessler? Froch? Bute? and then look at 175 Dawson, Cloud, Johnson, Pascal, Diaconou....I just don't think he matches well for those fights however I would LOVE to see Pavlik-Cloud....that's an all action fight if I've ever seen one!!!
