Default Vazquez - Marquez Fight Talk

    Vasquez / Marquez IV.

How is the whole damn forum not completely buzzing about this fight?

Screw ODLH. Screw Mayweather. Screw all these motherfuckers who leave some in the ring. Fuck MMA/Wrestling fag shit. This is where it begins and ends.

These two guys are such complete warriors and such a great matchup that it is just great!

I personally have Vasquez to take this bout but who really knows?

It is a complete travesty that these two guys aren't talked about in p4p rankings after these III EPIC fights. Why? Because they took some time off after three REAL FIGHTS? These guys threw more punches in three fights than David Haye has his whole career!

    REAL MEN!

This will go down in history as one of the greatest series of fights ever.

I want to know who everyone has, and why.

I feel sorry for these two.

When they first fought both were in the top 5 p4p and it was such an eagerly antipicated fight.

A gruelling first encounter, followed by two spectacular rematches.

But in fighting only each other they lost contact with the rest of the boxing world and became irelevent.

It's almost like they no longer exist now how little they are spoken of these days.

It's especially bizarre in the case of Israel Vasquez. He avenged his loss against the, at that point top 3 p4p Rahpael Marquez and then beat him in again in arguably the best fight of last year, and now he's not even in anyone's top 20.

Had he knocked out Vic Darhinyan in 2007 and then done FUCK ALL however he's still be top 3 p4p.

That said, even I'm not into this fight. I don't care about it I guess because it has no relevance. For a fight to mean anything it has to be significant, for a world title, for the linear or Ring championship, for the right to be the known as number 1, or to be considered a contender for example.

These guys are just operating within a bubble, with no context, and so although I have no doubt the fight will be great, it's not really possible to look forward to it.

It's like having the greatest action sequence of the year with the best special effects, but it's not in a movie. It's the action sequence on its own. Without the plot, the dialogue and the narrative that builds to the action you will feel no emotional pull and therefore it's not memorable or as awesome as it could be.

I just hope that whoever wins, if they carry on gets back on with the business of fighting the best in the division, and then I can care about them again.

That said I want Israel to win this in emphatic style. Finish the job and look good in doing so. I'd love to see him move down and Donaire move up and meet halfway.

Then I'd like to see Vazquez take little Nonito to the cleaners.

I disagree. Fighting a very top notch fighter three times does not make the pair irrelevant. This isn't Gatti/Ward, these guys are both top fighters! These two don't need spoon fed HBO prodigy fights, these guys are in the trenches. IF they had fought each other once, or twice and then both blew out a tomato can, they shouldn't be rated higher or be more "relevant." I don't need to see some mismatch or paper belt to know that Vazquez and Marquez are premier fighters. So they could have unified a belt or two? Who gives a fuck! One organization has 4 belts per weight and will manufacture more if they can get some boot.

So is Victor Ortiz more relevant because he fought an ancient Nate Campbell? Instead of fighting some great fighter three times?? Come on. That is insane.

I'm actually pretty indifferent to this fight, relatively speaking. I think it's almost certain to be a great fight, though I wouldn't be surprised to see it end early with all the damage they've done to each other, but honestly I would rather see both guys in against someone else. They've already fought an amazing trilogy, what else is left to prove? I pretty much agree with what Bilbo wrote. It'll be a good fight and an interesting one, but it doesn't have much relevance or drama. We already know how they match up again each other and there's no tie-breaker value to this fight like there was in the 3rd one.

I think Marquez wins this one for whatever that is worth. I think Vazquez came out of the trilogy worse for wear, despite winning two of the fights, and Marquez looked better than him in the one fight between their last match.

I see both sides to the argument. There is no doubt that they will put on a great show, but how many times do they need to do it? We have already seen how the styles gel and Vazquez has shown himself to be the marginally more resiliant of the two. I think Vazquez will win again as he is younger and has his previous two wins to draw from. Marquez only really won the first one because Vazquez was having nose problems, Vazquez has the mental edge and in a gruelling fight I think that will be the difference. I too think they would be better off fighting others at this stage in their careers. They should have moved on but didn't and that is probably why the fight isn't getting as much coverage. No doubts it will be fun though, it just feels a little unneccesary.

Honestly they have made more of an impression in their 18 months and 3 fights then pretty much anyone in the history of boxing has. There isn't a red blooded man on this planet that can't enjoy their fights. 3 of the best fights of all time on their own, and then together they make an unreal trilogy with 0 down moments.

Now they have taken some time off, they're rested, now it's time to do it again! Fuck yeah these are amazing fights I'll never grow tired of these two. Anyone not hyped about this is nuts.

I think its a lot of "enough is enough." These guys killed each other 3 times. There are more fighters out there. I don't think a 4th fight is necessary and it seems like most others don't either. Especially when you consider that after each fight they have only become more damaged goods. We don't need 4. You can only get excited so many times about the same 2 fighters brawling each other out. Did a lot of people really scream for Corrales/Castillo 4? They ruined each other. Enough is enough. I will watch the fight though and I do think Vasquez should still be highly touted in the rankings. But we don't need a fourth one of these.

I am shocked Why is 3 enough? I mean the third fight was anything but decisive, I wouldn't want to see either in the ring with a Lopez or Gamboa type, this is a perfect fight? I mean really, we could witness a FOTY, how could that be a bad thing?

this 4th fight should not have been made. anyway, i'm predicting a rafa ko/tko win and i predict this will not be a foty type of fight.

    yawn

feuds should never go beyond 3fights, what if marquez wins this one and evens up the scores at 2-2? does that mean a 5th fight? both have been ridiculously inactive and id suggest both have seen their day and this will simply be a 12round marketing exercise to earn both men a good retirement kitty

I must admit when it was announced I thought that they are trying to milk it a little bit now. Both men have knocked ten bells of shit out of each other and neither will be the same anymore. I doubt this next one will match up quality wise, but lets hope it does and we do have another foty candidate!!

im more interested in the undercard fight, yhonny perez vs abner mares.

btw i pick rafa to win in the main event fight since i suspect vazquez has damaged eyes that can be factor.

Vazquez looked shot to bits in his last fight against a journeyman who'd been out of the ring longer than he had. I think at least Vazquez should have retired after his last fight and hope I'm wrong and it's not two shot guys doing serious long term damage to each other on Saturday night. I'll be watching though but can't get too excited about the prospect.

Something else mentioned it earlier, but i feel these two fighting has been played out too long now. This fourth fight sorta seems pointless, they fought 3 times and Vasquez was superior, simple as that.

There three fights were great, a fourth one just tarnishes what they were able to do in those three fights imo.
