First of all I am not a nuthugger, so you need to get back into reality. Fact is and I stress FACT FACT FACT NO MATTER the topic who it is about if Mayweather is brought up you have nothing but praise of him..Great fighter yes but you get out of control....lIf the topic was jacking off your reply would be "No one Jacks off better then Floyd, he does it so fast and he can do it with both hands in every direction".... Didn't they fight twice? I think "ducked" isn't the right word there...

In the curious case of Floyd Mayweather Jr. against Manny Pacquiao, what reason is there really behind Floyd’s recent tirades against Pacquiao and for him to claim that he does not need to fight Pacquiao? Businesswise, lil’ Floyd has always said he was about making money, and practically if he wanted to make the most money, dancing with Pacquiao is the biggest money-making fight there is out there for him. So why did Floyd go out of his way to sign and announce a fight against Pacquiao’s nemesis Juan Manuel Marquez on the same day Pacquiao fought Ricky Hatton?

Perhaps Pacquiao’s ascension as the sport’s #1 Pound for Pound best fighter in the world after he retired, hurt lil’ Floyd’s ego. As you can see on the video I posted below and others online on Youtube while he has been promoting his fight against Marquez, Floyd gets irritated every time the media asks him about Pacquiao. He is quick to point out Pacquiao’s knockout losses a long time ago back when Pacquiao fought as a skinny kid in Southeast Asia. Floyd has a point though. On paper, his unblemished resume does look glamorous. One thing Floyd forgot however is that this is boxing. A boxer’s record means nothing more than the competition he’s faced. And what Floyd fails to understand is that the Pacquiao today is a far different Pacquiao from the one that last lost via decision against Erik Morales. Or perhaps Floyd does understand that quite well and that’s why he opted to verbally convince people that he is still the best instead of just jumping in the ring against the smaller Filipino and let his hands do the talking.

That's good to see! This is one of those "debates", which come about every so often, that DON'T end up in an off topic section with saddo's finger hovering dangerously close the ban button of one of the members..
Way to go toe to toe and finish off like classy gentlemen...

That being said though, the issue still remains.. Although, I think we have nearly come to a sound conclusion from all this debating, Mayweather is completely nonsensical and borderline mental... The most logical explanation for his actions..

Calling it a "christmas gift" is a little harsh. Though many people saw Marquez winning those fights, they weren't robberies. Both were close fights and cases can be made for each fighter for actually winning. Personally, I've watched the first fight a couple of times and I've had both men winning (Marquez more than Manny). The 2nd fight though, everytime I've watched it, I had Pacquiao winning a razor thin decision. Like I said I'm not trying to make this a "I'm right and you're wrong," but more often than not people on this forum see everything through one side only.

But on topic, after Marquez, Pacquiao went on to a new divisions and also the huge names to give him some major paydays. I would've also done the same. Pacquiao and Marquez had two close fights together and it was just time for him to move on from it. You can't call Manny scared cause he went on to fight fighters that NO ONE on earth ever thought he would ever share a ring with...

Neither guy is scared of the other........both of these guys are great fighters and that's why it's silly to constantly hear fans shit on one guy just because your favorite happens to be the other. These guys are fighters they couldn't even be in this buisness and be so successful if they were afraid of other fighters. Pac is plowing through guys and floyd has people acting like some big feat was done cause shane hit him twice in a twelve round fight that he probably won every minute of outside of those two punches. I personally belive pac and for that matter every other fighter out there right now has very little chance of beating floyd but you'll have to search hard to find anywhere i've bashed the guy. One guy will win one will loose, then we move on..... Having your favorite fighter beat a guy you called crap in the first place doesn't prove very much.

Pacquiao is plowing through guys who are tailor made for him. Guys who stand there and take his shots like Cotto or Clottey, or a guy who walks in defenseless and usually uses speed as his greatest asset in Hatton. Roach has stylistically matched Pacquiao up much better in much more oppertunistic circumstances, but I've never said Pacquiao is crap, I think he is higher up the rankings p4p on the ATG list even though Mayweather is vastly superior boxer/fighter. I just have come to realize 95% of the boxing world doesn't appreciate the subtle nuances of the sport that Mayweather that very few fighters have ever done, not just defensively, but the angles he takes, how well rounded his game is, the way he reads opponents, nullifies their offense.

I agree with that 100%... He is really special in that regard... But if he didn't hand pick his opponents as well, then I think more of boxing would appreciate that aspect of him as much as you do...

I'm not sure why Floyd would be "scared" of anyone (or Manny for that matter). Both guys are in top form and they have excellent skill....but there is a HUGE amount of money and respect to be made here and something is stopping the fight from happening and it not only hurts the two fighters it hurts the entire sport.

The biggest problem with Manny's style is that he loses balance, position at the end of a combination, and he needs a specific rhythm and distance to get off effectively, Marquez either stayed too close or too far away and Floyd would do the same thing, and he would pepper Pacquiao with lead right hands followed by the left hook then lots and lots of body shots. I think by the sixth round that Manny would be in a totally defensive shell where he would be too frustrated and try to load up more, but it would only make it easier for Floyd to beat him to the punch and hit him even more.

I just don't see Manny as his biggest challenge, IMO Bradley in a few fights will be a more significant threat because of how well rounded and skilled he is.

seriously doubt manny will tire after a round and half and once he realizes floyd doesn't punch worth anything, he'll bounce in and out and give floyd a very hard time..although he'll still lose, but he'd gt rounds off of activity alone...
