Montiel-Donaire was discussed before. It didn't happen. Just like Donaire-Darchinyan 2 didn't happen. Donaire-Arce. Donaire-Kameda. Donaire-Mijares. Donaire-Hasegawa. Donaire-Cazares. All fights that were at one time discussed but never happen. Yet it's never Donaire's fault, right?

riiiight! oh didn't donaire faced the same fighter a few fights ago?
didn't the same guy take Donaire the distance? and didn't Montiel just knock Hasegawa the fuck out, and doesn't he have a win over Gorres?

and yea Donaire is taking on all comers...riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight!

i too would be surprised if this fight happens. it seems all donaire wants to do is fight minimumweights. i love the way he was jumping all over the ring like if he just beat some big time fighter, when he knocked out minimumweight manuel vargas. that was classic! and by the way, donaire is i believe still too big for bantamweight. with his height, he should be fighting at super bantam or even featherweight. he looks so huge against all the other little fighters. i guess he's gotta do whatever it takes to have a big advantage over his "minimumweight" opponents!!!

Not only Donaire is eager to fight Montiel. Even Darchinyan who's been avoiding Donaire has been calling out Montiel too. So it's funny how you make it sound like he's the most feared fighter in that division. You have to understand that Montiel is now a prime Mexican superstar just like Barrera and Morales was. He's a big prize. Everybody wants a piece of him. Donaire is well aware that the great way to inherit Pacfans is to follow Pac's footsteps.

Darchinyan's the one who's been calling out Donaire, hell when Donaire was asked who he wanted to take on next all he did was giggle like a little girl and not answer the question, so don't come with that bull

DONAIRE ALREADY SIGNED THE REMATCH CONTRACT, BUT DARCHINYAN REFUSED TO SIGNED IT WHEN THEY SHOWED IT TO HIM. Donaire mentioned that also in his showtime interview right after he beat Marquez.

i have great respect for montiel and his fight record speaks for itself especially with his performance of late, but donaire has always wanted to fight the top guys and you can find more than a half dozen articles on this with him calling them out. the problem is nobody seems to want to face him, with morel the last to turn him down.

i just hope this fight with montiel pushes through because it's going to be a good one for sure.

just show me an article where it shows it was donaire who backed out from any of those fights. from what i remember it was montiel who turned down the fight with nonito at 115lbs because he wanted to move up in weight.

    just found this:

Fernando Montiel in a "Darchinyan" state of mind

this seems to be donaire's lot if the fight with montiel falls through. he's too skilled for his own good.
