Yes, Mosley beat Margarito, but Margarito beat Cotto, Clottey, and Cintron twice. If Margarito hadn't cheated and tarnished his name forever, his string of victories prior to losing to Mosley would be the most impressive of any welterweight now fighting. But, Margarito in all likelihood beat those guys with the help of cement-loaded gloves, and the one fight we know of where he didn't load his gloves, Shane took him to school. As they should, I'm sure Pacquiao's camp will be seriously scrutinizing his gloves. I doubt Pacquiao knocks him out, but he should beat him over 12. It's a better fight than Cotto II although I'd prefer to see Pacquiao face Williams, Bradley, Shane, or Berto.
IMO what Cotto did in the first 4 rounds against Pacquiao will be more than anything Margarito will do against Pacquiao, and IMO Pacquiao will get a TKO win around the 10th or 11th basically by overwhelming Margarito, basically every major win Margarito has is under scrutiny and question due to the wraps controversy and rightfully so, there are more lucrative fights out there for Pacquiao that don't involve Margarito, Cotto, or Mayweather (even though i still think a Cotto rematch would be more competitive than a fight against Margarito), such as Berto, Bradley, or Williams
Understandable, but Margarito is at the least new blood. Cotto was destroyed by Pacquiao. I don't need to see that again. The problem is I'm not sure the Bradley, Berto, or Williams fights would be more financially lucrative than a fight with Margarito. Certainly, they are better for Pacquiao's legacy; fighting p4p guys rather than a cheater, is much better for his legacy.
well Margarito's last fight did something like 14,000 buys which isn't all that good, so the only real reason it would sell would be because of the buzz of the wraps, which is something that boxing really doesn't need, i'd rather have Pacquiao fight a guy who's name or resume might not be as big, rather than see a guy who's name is only big due to cheating and the same can be speculated on his resume, either way Williams already holds a win over Margarito so technically he should be first in line
