A young Kassim Ouma vs Angulo or Kirkland

I think Kirkland would blast him but Angulo would struggle vs him. Sure Angulo has thudding power but Ouma is 100% volume and I just don't think a guy who looks for 1 shot at a time will have an easy go vs him.

I think Kirkland's style leaves him very vulnerable to boxer/punchers or more slick fighters but vs a volume puncher, that puts them at risk due to Kirkland's power and handspeed.

I don't rate Angulo much....I think he's a plodder, he throws too wide and it's one at a time he reminds me a bit of Fernando Vargas.

Vargas by no means was a plodder, Kirkland is more of a flat footed brawler who just wings away looking for the ko shot at all times that Fernando Vargas, Angulo is a clean version of Margarito and a prime Vargas would have easily wrecked both

Maybe an old Nando, that's a compliment to Angulo who is much more reminiscent of a poor man's Margarito. He's just not that impressive and fair play to him for getting the flawed Joel Julio out of there but Julio was outboxing him for most of that fight.

The man has concrete in his boots but man I think Angulo gets underrated for his improved punch selection and arsenal.Increasingly a very tight guy who manages the ropes well and accelerates combinations...can read opponents and then pounce.Julio was doing his thing but I sat there thinking he was more avoidance and 'cheap' mode rather than slick improved boxer as the minutes ticked.Persoanlly one of the more satisfying ko's this year ha.

Yea I agree about Julio Spicoli and I know there is subtlety to what he does more then I give him credit for but I don't think he's beating many top 5-10 154s. How he would fare against Ouma I don't know but Ouma was pretty freakin good before the Karmazin loss he was really well thought of.

the fact that ouma doesn't have alot of power tells you right there that angulo would not respect it and would try to walk down ouma. one, i think angulo would be too big, too strong, and with too much power. ouma would make it a nice little cat and mouse game for a few rounds but once angulo gets heated up, he's very hard to slow down. angulo by TKO in 9.

I can't make an assesment on this as I don't think either Angulo or Kirkland have hit their prime...

Angulos about 2 steps ahead of Kirk as far as opposition but they have yet to step in the ring against a top rated contender. Me personally I didn't think much of Alcine.

I think either one has yet to be tested and let's not forget that Julio was clearly outboxing Angulo. IMO that is Angulos low point that he can be outboxed.

Yeh no doubt about Oumas run.His show against Phillips in the 2nd,might have been first (??) match was really impressive.With his big confidence,thick chin and keeping boxing sharp he would have had solid chance vs todays Angulo who is just now hitting stride.Big factor...how would Ouma take it to the stomach.

I have to say that the responses show how many boxing purist are now part of this great forum. So glad to see it grow over the years.

I agree that Ouma had a very special ability in his prime, and I personally think he outboxed Jermain Taylor for the Middleweight crown.

At that time, he would have outboxed Angulo, but I think Kirkland has the combination of power and pressure to bust Kassim's pipes. Honestly, I think Ouma v. Angulo would have been the better 'boxing' match.
