i've been accused to being a "racist" among other things by seemingly by some over-sensitive fans on this site. i've been told that i only like mexican fighters and that i'm this and that, yada yada yada. the truth is this, i'm a big boxing fan of mexican boxers AND non-mexican boxers. and i'm not going to apologize to anyone that i'm also somewhat nationalistic when it comes to boxing. anyone on this board who says otherwise is just kidding themselves.

when chris arreola battled tomasz adamek a few months ago, i was undeniably behind adamek. i'm a big fan of his and he happens to be polish. why is that? why did i root for adamek and not arreola? because i'm not a racist like i'm been branded here. for example, my favorite "non-mexican" fighters are:

    yonnhy perez - colombia
    vic darchinyan - armenia
    michael katsidid - australia
    timothy bradley - usa
    marcos rene maidana - argentina
    joel casamayor - cuba
    floyd mayweather jr. - usa
    shane mosley - usa
    ricky hatton - england
miguel angel cotto - puerto rico
    kermit cintron - puerto rico
    sergio gabriel martinez - argentina
    kelly pavlik - usa
    lucian bute - romania
    andre ward - usa
    mikkel kessler - denmark
    arthur abraham - armenia
    carl froch - england
    edison miranda - colombia
    jermain taylor - usa
    chad dawson - usa
    klitschko brothers - ukraine
    tomasz adamek - poland

one more thing, the reason i put down results whenever a mexican fighter fights a filipino fighter is because they, the filipinos wanted very badly to have this "rivalry". i personally don't think there is any "rivalry" because of the one sidedness between the two countries. maybe not on this site but in many other sites, they compare themselves to mexicans in everything. be it beauty pageants, boxing, etc...it seems as if they've got this obsession with mexicans.

IMO, it only just came from your mouth. But why include Filipinos here? You can bash Filipinos on other sites that you are pertaining to. Shallow enough, just because Filipinos are talking about rivalry with Mexicans is enough reason to post insults against Filipinos. Show some little love dude.
I think the greatest example of Mexican obsession is you..lol

The main reason why you are called a "racist" is because you love to bash Filipinos and Filipino fighters.

    see thread:
    http://www.saddoboxing.com/boxingfor...rld-title.html

But kidding aside, there is no need to bash other races in order to be called a boxing fan.

Typical boxing fans are NUTHUGGERS (most are annoying though).

Real boxing fans follow the boxing WORLD, yes WORLD, not just Filipino, Mexican, Puerto Rican, Ghanaian, or boxing on a specific country only. And also not only focus on one division, but in every division (strawweight to heavyweight)

milmascaras1 always insinuates that FILIPINOS only know Pacquiao, I think he is wrong here.
He can boast that Mexico has produced more world champions than Filipinos, yes that is correct and there is nothing to argue about that. Mexico is a great boxing country. And there is nothing to hate about Mexico. But he's got every reason to bash Filipinos.

Even Oscar Larios was touched when he once visited the Philippines during the WBC Convention in November 2007 because of the adoration and applause he received from Filipinos. Even Juan Manuel Marquez was applauded when he visited the Philippines.

But I got to love milmascaras1's list of favorite fighters.

But you can't force him to admire Filipino fighters though.

    jolz,

i read your comments and i must say you are a very down to earth person. seriously! and by the way, i don't hate filipinos. i know alot of filipinos who are good friends of mine. maybe it was my fault that i was generalizing all filipinos because of some bad apples and i admit i was wrong. and i must say that i believe filipino fighters are very tough, valiant warriors, just like mexicans, puerto ricans, americans, cubans, etc...those guys don't have quit in them and i admire their toughness. they might be small in stature but i believe they are second to none when it comes to fighting. and another thing, when pacquiao first came unto the boxing scene with a thunder when he destroyed marco barrera in 2003, i was also a fan of his. but because of his fans, i soon started disliking him. really, i admire the man because he's one of the very few worldwide superstars who are still down to earth and won't let fame corrupt him. oh and by the way, i am an avid follower of filipino boxing. i follow all of their fights and have a database of all their world champions in history! so Jolz, hopefully we can have civil and intelligent conversations from now on. mabuhay ka!

    OK bro..You can bash nuthuggers..
You cannot dislike the man himself. He is more humble than most of Pacfans. I can say you are a real boxing fan because you follow every fight. And my bad, I am always infuriating you with my comments. Boxing is brotherhood..

    jolz,

indeed, boxing is a brotherhood. today i was looking at the results from the philippines at BOXREC and they had a really huge card somewhere where they showcased some really promising prospects. right now philippine boxing is virtually at a standstill but it looks like you guys have some pretty good young prospects coming up.

these guys are really young and it would be foolish for their managers to pit them against competition they are not ready for. this rushing filipino prospects has been going on since pacquiao came unto the scene and it's practically ruined some prospects like rey bautista and a.j. banal and a few others. these managers are looking for the next pacquiao but there can only be one pacquiao.

yeah, mexico has alot of super prospects as well. you can say mexico's boxing is at a standstill even with 9 champions but wait until their prospects are ready. it's going to be exciting because if these prospects are brought up correctly and not too fast, many of them are going to be world champions.

as far as following every fight, that's almost true! lol...i've got a lot of time on my hands and i like to do research and i have loads of statistics on boxing, baseball, football, world cup soccer etc...

    titofan,

yes indeed, puerto rico/mexico rivalry is tops in boxing. but do you know what bewilders me? how can puerto rico produce so many quality world champions with such a miniscule population as compared to other densely populated countries? it's really amazing!

years ago i had a black friend who was from new york and she told me that her dad made her carry a knife to school every day because she was always getting into fights with puerto ricans. she even told me that if whenever there was a fight, 9 times out of 10 it involved a puerto rican.

that's why you guys are so good at boxing cause you're fightin' mofo's!!1

LOL... yeah, Puerto Ricans in NY by and large give the rest of us a bad rap (or maybe a good one, depending how you look at it). But seriously... I think the reason for the disproportionate number of great champions coming out of an island with such a miniscule population (in comparison with other boxing powers) is that we have what I would call a spectacular boxing development program. You go to just about any town on the island, and you'll find fights being held at local gyms, where you'll see amazing young talent. Just the other day I was discussing with a friend at work how the future looks promising for more P.R. champions, based on the young talent coming up through the ranks these days.

A year or so ago I did some research on the number of historical world champions from the different countries, and compared it to the populations of those countries. And while the boxing powers you'd expect are near the top of the list: (U.S., Mexico, England, Venezuela), little Puerto Rico was far and away at the top of that list (champions divided by population, that is). Obviously in terms of sheer number of historical world champions, the U.S. and Mexico and #1 and #2, respectively.

sadly, Philippine boxing will never get its place if corrupt managers and promoters will feed promising fighters to the lions. Eversince Pacmania occured, each promising prospect is rushed on to something dangerous. I am not saying this as an excuse. But take a look at Montiel Vs. Ciso Morales. The kid was visibly unfit and not ready to fight a veteran.

On the other hand, other young fighters are pitted against Thai veterans and get this, they are scheduling fights in Thailand even without sufficient permits from GAB (the Philippines' governing body in all sports). In order to compete with the world, we Filipinos should not only focus on Pacquiao alone. We should focus on developing the sport and setting aside personal greed..
