I'm really liking Pirog so far. He's got Jacobs in full retreat, though Jacobs is boxing quite well off the back foot.

    Holy Shit! Brutal KO!

You have to feel for Jacobs though, his mind couldn't have been all in the right tonight considering the woman who raised him died a few days ago.

Wow! Pirog looked class. Even before the Ko he was putting Jacobs on the backfoot and should have scored that KD in the 2nd. 17 straight wins 14 by KO. The guy is for real.

Jacobs will probably have an excuse for losing. He looked good in parts but he is the Amercian Amir Khan. Great against bums but faced with a similar aged/sized boxer he was out his depth. Good appetiser for the main event.

I'm not fan of Jacobs, but IMO he has a pretty valid excuse given that the person who raised him died a few days ago.

And I don't think the Khan comparison in apt. Khan had looked very shaky before getting stopped by Prescott, Jacobs has looked good against almost everyone prior to this though I think Ishe Smith gave him a tough fight. I'm no fan of his, but he can bounce back from this. Like Khan, this loss could make him a better fighter in the end (as they just said on SKy).

Douglas' mother died before he beat Tyson and it made him raise his game to the next level. Some use it as an excuse for losing and some use it as a motivation for winning.

I was comparing it to Khan just as Johhny Nelson just did because it was a shock but thats what happens when you believe your hype. I think Jacobs has the fundamentals to comeback but I do like the look of Pirog. He is no Prescott.

Everyone responds to death and loss differently. It's unfair to judge one fighter by what another did in the same situation.

Pirog is definitely more skilled than Prescott, I agree there. He looks to have a good future.

Yeah I agree its unfair to judge him on what another fighter did in the same situation and its also unfair to give him that excuse for losing. If he thought he couldnt perform he should have pulled out and maybe he will learn from that but I think it goes back to the over confidence and thinking he could walk through Pirog.

Time for the big 1. Im going for Marquez by KO.

Are we looking at another star in the making in Pirog?

Agreed. I just think Goldenboy and prospects don't work too well. He should have been fighting lower level opponents for a few fights more before fighting this type of opponent.

I sure wonder how it's going to turn out for Saul Alvarez in the future.

I am not impressed with Alvarez at all to be honest. The only thing impressive about him is his age, he gets hit way too much and he doesn't have devestating power.

Pirog looked good, you could tell right off that he was pretty athletic and skilled.

I thought Jacobs was a bit of a hype job coming in but I'm sure that would be rough for him with the death, I didn't hear about that cause I'm watching a spanish language stream.

War Diaz. He probably loses but war anyway.
