All I can say from watching the fight on youtube is WOW....that guy isn't very quick on his feet but he's very cagey. He has excellent head movement and good defense but the thing he does the best is he pivots in on his opponent getting closer kind of short arming lead rights (they are leads because he pivots into a southpaw stance) lulling his opponent into a false sense of security just before the KO Jacobs' body language says "OK, the rights are at a distance I can roll with them" and then Pirog switches orthodox again and it's lights out...Jacobs was fucked because his back was against the ropes and there was nowhere (seemingly) for him to go.
I think Pirog's style would work well vs someone like Jermain Taylor (in his prime) but not so much vs a Bernard Hopkins or Andre Ward or maybe even Dirrell as those guys are quick but kind of have a sense of danger before a punch is thrown where they will either get the hell out of the way or tie up and I think that's the way you beat this guy. Good 1-2, keep distance, once he pivots to southpaw you tie him up and he never gets you in range for the big bomb.
Sergio can handle this guy, he's a southpaw I don't see that pivoting in working on a southpaw like Sergio....maybe against Paul Williams but not Martinez.
I would LOVE to see Pirog vs Cintron
