Briggs is close to nothing but he's big, he's got more quality than Audley Harrison (albeit the same work rate) and he can punch quite hard. Do I expect that he'll do much? He may swing wildly the first 4 rounds, but in the end I see him getting put to sleep before the final bell like so many of Vitali's challengers.
In all honesty Briggs called Wlad out a lot as well, he called him out after a press conference, and he had been scheduled to fight Wlad but then something happened and he bailed on the fight or a better fight came up (I think at that time it was the Ibragimov fight....not a better quality fight, but better in terms of it being for the vacant WBO title)...I wouldn't have minded Wlad beating Briggs up. Briggs could have had a small shot vs Wlad....the guy may be fat and have a head shaped like a pineapple, but he can still punch.
The way I see things now, Vitali is just a title holder, he's gotten older, he's not as powerful as he used to be and he's taking his last couple fights to make some big money and have some interesting bouts: Briggs, Valuev, Chicken Little....those are all interesting fights, but do understand that "interesting" doesn't mean competitive or deserved. Vitali has paid his dues in this division, he can do what he wants to.
