A little Tip, when throwing more than 1 jab move the feet. Its about position, Its like the soldier in the 1st world War . When in the trenches anybody lighting a ciggy up, the sniper knew where you were. The 2nd one who took a light would probably get shot, the 3rd one was Dead .

Any tips on working the double jab?

.. other than working it while doing traditional shadow boxing and bag work.
Definitely the pads if you have that available to you. As with most things, it is best done as a progression. As in, Shadow/Heavy bag-->Pads-->Sparring=eventually finding it's way into competition.

Think about different combos to try off the quick dbl, like say dbl jab, straight right, left hook to kidney. Because you get a lot going on upstairs it tends to raise their elbows and can be effective. There are so many. The stiff jab is more I find something you will use to keep range and stop your opponent from coming in, but not necessarily limited to it. But the quick dbl you can def. set more stuff up off of it.
Yup, I have pads available to me, just joined a new club, so I haven't had a chance to work with the coaches yet. They're really working on getting the guys ready for the Provincials coming up. So hopefully soon, I'll get a bit of padwork in, with a trainer and see how it goes.

Other than that, I can get guys to hold em for me and continue working on that double jab.

Nice analogy Scrap... but I think my problem is moving my feet too much. I'm fine when I throw the double jab slowly with my full attention on my balance and form, but when i speed it up, a lot of the times I almost lunge into the second jab, moving my lead leg a tad bit more than my back, leaving me often in a wider stance at the end of it, and a tad bit off balance.

But this isnt always the problem, I think I run into this problem because I get frustrated with the speed that my double jabs are landing at, and lunge in for some odd reason.

While using the war and guns analogy, I guess a double jab hitting the bag should land at the rate of 2 shots from an AK47, instead mine are almost like 2 shots from a 6-shooter.

... well maybe not that slow but u get the idea

I think it's a range issue actually, since I'm not doing it anymore at all while shadowboxing... I think I over compensate by stepping in too far thinking that the target is further than it really is... if I do it without moving I tend to lean and reach a bit, even if I know I'm in range. It's the perception that the target is further than it is.

.... just thinking out loud again I guess sorry

Its the back foot that is your distance, by moving your front foot after youre bringing your Head nearer to the other guys range. Its a bad habit, theres a few ways of solving it, as strange as they may seem. Heres one, on your front foot wear a Rollorskate, it will put you on your back foot, being higher than it. Plus if you put to much weight on it you will go arse over tit . It a great way of mastering Proreceptive skills.

Thanks Scrap, that makes sense, I'll give that a shot, once I get a hold of some skates.
