If you're going to start topics and continually post controversial opinions on issues which people feel strongly about, you can't be surprised when some people get upset. I don't see why you'd leave over it. If it bothers you that much, do what I did when and just ignore those types of threads.
These 'poor me, goodbye' goodbye threads are fucking weak. Nobody ever actually leaves after they make one.

Well, it's fucking true. Posters take all kinds of flak for posting all kinds of things and they rarely leave because of it. The motive behind every single one of these types of threads that I have seen isn't to actually announce a persons leaving, it's to solicit responses from other members encouraging the person that they have to stay and how great they are and blah blah blah. I'm not going to do that.
I like Miles, I like talking about boxing and music and a million other things with him. He's a valued, long-time poster and I hope he remains (as I suspect he will), but the forum won't die without him. I've been here for over 4 years now, a thousand people have come and gone in that time, and I can count one one hand the number of individuals whose leaving has been truly detrimental to this site.
Miles: I hope you decide to stick around, but you need to relax. Get high, get laid, take some pills or whatever, but just relax. Talking about politics (or in your case incessantly arguing about Israel and America with the same 4 or 5 posters) on a motherfucking boxing forum is nothing to get genuinely upset about. Neither are sad clicks. If you want to talk politics and be taken seriously, why not find a political forum where a large number of people actively debate these types of issues? I'm sure there are a million of them out there and perhaps you would find the types of discussion you are seeking there.

I just sad clicked you. Nothing personal, forum etiquette has to be upheld at all times.
In all seriousness, I concur with CFH, no one wants you to leave, just relax, go with the flow.
Miles this is super gay.
NOW I want Miles to leave. These threads are super-gay. When me & Hammer used to have some heated threads I think we'd both just go cool off elsewhere. Who would have thought those old debates combined with our mutual hatred of notorious kiddie luster, fat slag shagger & all round poof Big H would create the forum's greatest trainer/fighter team since TM & Kid Thunder (admittedly the only one).
Awww DAMNIT!!!!! I can't Sad Click anyone....miles you fuckin commie!!! You've turned Saddo's into some every jackass gets a trophy Bush League bullshit!!!!!
This is the worst yet....you won't keep us down for long man!!!! We're going to fight this thing.....SAD CLICK POWER!!!!! SAD CLICK POWER!!!!
I didn't even get to use a sad click under the new thing-a-ma-jigger Saddo set up....LAME SIR, L-A-M-E, LAME!
You are right, most people start "I'm leaving" threads to garner a response. I didn't though. I was really angry. As soon as I started a thread about Israel I got 30 sad clicks. It made me question myself. Am I so extreme that it has come to this? "I don't think I am extreme, but the clicks won't stop coming". Maybe I should exterminate myself?
Anyway, thanks for the kind words. I appreciate it. You are one of the forum members here who make me think. And that is always a good thing.
My final point is that I don't think I have controversial views. My views on subjects such as Israel are not controversial. Is it not a fact that Israel has built on 42%of the land illegally taken since 1967? My views on this are not controversial, Israel's actions are the controversy.
Most of your views, the ones you've expressed on here at least, don't strike me as all that radical (aside from the Yuri Foreman episode), but they way you present them at times has a tendency to rub some people the wrong way and that (IMO) tends to make them appear more extreme, or at least more rigid and thus pointless to debate (the English teacher in you must love the structure of that last sentence).
I'm hardly a fan or a supporter of the Israeli state, and I'm a strong advocate of the needs for Palestinian rights and restitution. However, while I may disagree with the other side of the argument, I can appreciate the perspectives of those who hold contrary beliefs and I respect their reasons for doing so, even if I disagree with them.
That is something, in my experience with you at least, that you seem hesitant or unwilling to do in these types of discussions and I think that could be where the problem lies. It's not uncommon for people to act that way when they feel passionately about something, but in my experience it tends to stifle legitimate debate and leads to hostility and anger on all sides.
Plus, it is a bit exasperating to see the same topic drudged up over and over again. I think that plays a role in all this as well.
I hope that doesn't come across as harsh or anything, it's just my $0.02 on the whole situation.
Just out of curiosity who was the culprit that sad clicked you that many times?
Anyways this place needs an extreme leftwing commie liberal, just to balance the extreme rightwing redneck rants of Lyle. You and Lyle are like the yin and yang of this place. We can't do with both of you leaving.
