    Default Free Hugz

Another forum I belong to (not boxing) has been helping a guy out down on his luck. His name is Jared Huggins and he found himself being homeless, without family, living in fear out of his car and a person we generally liked. There are a lot of scammers around on the internet, looking for easy money, or people just wanting free money, but this dude was willing to do anything for a few dollars. A lot of people asked him to do some pretty crappy things, and him needing the money, he'd do them. For the record he never ever asked for money, people offered. The guy was willing to work, in fact was working 3 jobs to try and get off the streets. His story is a long one, but it all has been verified. Anyway, one of the things a person asked him to do for a few dollars was to spend a day giving hugs out.

    Here's the vid.

Since then he has continued to seek work, has finally gotten off the streets and continues to try and turn things around in his life.

I've always found it difficult to imagine how someone 'finds' themself homeless without it being entirely (OK maybe mostly)their own fault.

Maybe Im being harsh or a twat, or both.
When God said to the both of us "Which one of you wants to be Sugar Ray?" I guess I didnt raise my hand fast enough

Naw, it is a valid thing to question. He made some mistakes a long the way that helped get him there.

Sometimes, it just takes one or two mistakes and a bit of badluck to get there, can't blame a guy for regretting it and trying to spin his life back on track though.

Cool vid, that was like the greatest park in the work, even the disabled guy had a stunt wheelchair.

I just can't see that working over here. In the UK the rule is never to approach a stranger, ever. If you had a piece of cardboard with free hugs written on it people would just walk around you, eyes fixed either to the floor or straight ahead, pretending you didn't exist.

That park was ace, like a place where people really were a community.

Yes you are, some people prefer to remain homeless and do not want a permanent roof over their head, but a lot have issues such as mental health, substance misuse which may have resulted from living an abusive life.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
