i watch american idol. so guess i need to confess. but not always the whole season, usually just the first few weeks for all the delusional retards. love the look of disbelief on their faces when they get told they kinda suck. lol
but a couple of seasons i got sucked into watching it week after week right till the final episode.
TV sucks, no doubt. Commercials suck, the shows suck and the people who watch it suck. HBO doesn't really count as TV. Not even talking about reality TV either, just everything sucks. Hopefully Lights Out the new boxing show won't suck. FX makes good stuff but this 3rd season of Sons of Anarchy has sucked, turned idiculous and I probably won't give it but a couple more episodes to turn it around. If this baby is kidnapped all season then I'm done because it's a stupid ass storyline.
I saw a show on Fox the other day. I actually thought the scene was very very well acted, and I thought hmm, maybe this show is worth a shot. Some lawyers or some shit. So then two people meet a 3rd at a restaurant booth. They did not give one single shot of all 3 sitting at the table. It was sooooooo overedited there were like 1000 times they switched angles and it just made me feel disconnected. Let the actors act, work off each other etc. Don't focus on one persons face everytime they have something to say, it was nuts.
I watch the X Factor and I enjoy it. I don't vote, I don't buy any of the charity singles and I don't buy any of the resulting singles and albums that contestants release. I don't see a problem with the show tbh. It can act as a platform for people who have good voices but just never got the break. The thing that gets on my nerves about the show is the excessive media coverage. Do I care that a 17 year old had a breakdown? Or that 2 twentysomethings slept together in a house? No. I also despise how seriously some people take these shows, I mean come on, Cheryl Cole gets death threats for sending a girl home? A girl that since then has been told she's in this country illegally and is on the verge of deportation. Some people do need to get their priorities right if they allow themselves to become so consumed by television.
I don't really see a problem with watching the show to enjoy people singing some classic songs. They don't half murder them sometimes mind, but there's little else on the television so why not? I don't need Simon Cowell to tell me what music to listen too, like I said I don't buy anything connected with the show or vote, I just watch every week for some enjoyment. I can understand why some people are opposed to it, but it shouldn't be a slight against some of the contestants, some do have good voices and not everybody can produce some meaningful, important lyrical masterpiece. The majority of the artists that currently make up the charts these days don't write their own lyrics
Miles you are such a ridiculous snob. What is the difference between a "chav" enjoying the show and your wife? They are both watching for the same reason - to be entertained.
David Bowie would have to give permission to use Heroes, no?

3-Time SADDO PREDICTION COMP CHAMPION.
I'm bored of it now. Too much hype and controversy for me to really appreciate it.
I just liked listening to people sing but this is on some other level.

I am both pretentious and a snob and I have no qualms with this when it comes to music and taste.
I hate TV shows of this ilk, I don't even regard it as entertainment. I find it offensive and cheap. It is music so watered down and erased of authorship, that it might as well not exist. As far as I am concerned there is no difference between the Queen watching it and the guy next door.
As for Bowie giving permission to use the song, that is unknown, but I haven't read anything of him coming out giving his support. It's not as though you can just block cover versions anyway, if he did it would be stained on him for being an old git who doesn't want to help charity. He knows that, might as well stay quiet.
They have to have permissions to sing the songs on the show let alone record them and release them.
When God said to the both of us "Which one of you wants to be Sugar Ray?" I guess I didnt raise my hand fast enough
