No this is brilliant. I watched tonight, I can't help but root for Lebron James. Regardless of everything off the court, how fucking stupid 'The Decision' was, it's actually kind of brilliant. The commercial was poignant especially the dropping of that Witness banner which was probably the city's most recognizable site to me in the past few years.
There is nothing really wrong with someone chasing championships. He wants to win rings and he put himself in what he felt was the best situation for him. For me, I wish they would have said fuck Chris Bosh, you don't need 3 when they are all contributing the same thing. It's not a big 3. Bosh, who is the funniest and most likable of the 3, is a really good offensive player inside. That's all he is, now these 2 are going to make him look much better then he is in the regular season until the postseason when his defensive woes will be badly exposed.
I no longer have a problem with him leaving Cleveland. How could he do that? Cleveland just didn't know how to recruit a team around him and they went for Bosh as their primary target. Here's what I wish happened in the order that all these hypotheticals could have played out.
1. James signs in New Jersey, New Jersey trades for Carmelo Anthony. While still having cap space to go after quality bench players instead of wasting a majority on it on a third guy (like Bosh), they keep Devin Harris, Brook Lopez or other quality guys from the Nuggets. Good fucken luck stopping those 2 with a competent staff around them being stopped from gaining the title.
2. James signs with the Bulls. James, Derrick Rose, Carlos Boozer, Luol Deng, Joakim Noah, Ronnie Brewer, Taj Gibson and Kyle Korver. That's a spectacularly well rounded out team. The Heat had 4 players under contract when James signed and everyone knew Beasley was gone and maybe Chalmers too.
3. Wade and James team up in Miami or Cleveland minus Chris Bosh. This is an awesome combo. These two are going to be the best 1,2 in basketball no doubt if Wade can stay healthy, I just hope they can get enough support.
I said hope, haha. I had a lot of venom for James but I still think he's destined to become one of, if not the greatest of all time. He just needs to start winning, that's the ONLY thing preventing him from being elevated to the likes of Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson and Kobe Bryant. So I hope he wins, but I also hope they ship Bosh elsewhere and it becomes just the big 2. As a duo, James and Wade are the best in the NBA and very fun to watch. Bosh shouldn't be getting paid as much as those two and the money dedicated to Bosh can be more wisely spent.
